is it offline friendly?
been enjoying the game via xbox game pass and was considering getting it for steam. But my biggest hesitation in buying it has been the possibility of losing access to the game when the servers eventually do shut down.

So long term, not offline friendly. If you just bought the game and played through the main story line you could probably get a good sixty hours or more out of it. Other than updates, or if you want to buy the bundles or upcoming expansion, no reason to be "online".

I think the intent of the game is to keep you online, but if you are comfortable doing your own backups and don't need the store items, you could probably get a lot of fun out of the base package. Deciding if that is worth the game price is a very subjective question.

I thought it was a fair price and got about 600 hours of fun out of the base package without every buying additional moonstones. There was a lot of working on basic tasks during the downtime between each update in EA- but I kind of enjoyed completing all the achievable collections. Some, like clothing/furniture/memories- are just not able to be completed and are intended to keep us playing long term.

I mean the game is never complete, like if they gonna shut down servers or stop support, which I think will happen in the longterm then you don't have anything to do. So I would say no it is not

i mean sometimes the servers do fail but you can still play offline, just no access to the premium shop or any events. When the servers shut down for good there won't be events or dreamsnaps anymore so guess the core game itself would be playable but not the online bits which would include multiplayer when that is added

the thing is there is still more story coming, free updates to the base game along side the dlc so there will be more. I imagine it will be some time before the servers get taken down, so really it depends how much they put in the games before that point
