Fishing rod is infinitely magical

Yesterday i made and used a 25 fishing lure. Today I wanted to do the mission "Be our friend" (Beast) and I need a caught herring for it. Unfortunately my fishing rod is now infinitely "magic" and has long since reached the 25 limit. That means I've caught 50 fish now, but it's still magical and won't go away. I've already made a 5 bait, but that didn't help either.
Does anyone know any advice?

are you only counting fish caught from white circles? it only gets used up when you fish the white circles. ones that are already gold or blue do not count, neither does no circle.

Also, if you are fishing with a buddy, the extras do not count.

Yeah, I can't really see a use case for the big fishing potion. Happened to be raining so I was burning our charges catching puffer fish today for a Vanelope quest. Used 2 potions for the dream path with plenty left over. Had to get rid of the first enhancement to chase white circles as well.
