Furniture placement controls are terrible
Decorating my house is such a chore now. I feel like it didn't used to be this way. I play on PC and having the left mouse button used for pick up, put down, rotate item and rotate camera all at once is a TERRIBLE idea! This means each time I rotate an item for placement it sets it back down as well. I have to pick it back up, rotate one time, repeat. That's not even that worst part. Even more annoying is that to rotate the camera, I hold down left mouse. If my curser happens to be hovering over a item when I let go, it will be picked up. Now I have to figure out where it was and put it back. Absolutely rage inducing!:angrynerd:

If you had to make it better how would you do it? I think we all can agree there needs to be keybinding settings for all platforms. I kind of like the placement setup, it's simple and clean.

there should be a button on the right corner you can click to backtrack your placements, in case you missplace something or want to try something out but want to go back to the old layout. you can, obviously, only do this as long as you dont click out of furniture mode but its better than nothing!

If they were serious about making this a successful sustainable place to play and evolved faster than they appear to be doing so, they would add building blocks where we can build using building blocks. in that case I would recommend key binding z to rotate objects on z axis, x to rotate on x axis and y to rotate on y axis. axis should be world not player persepecitve to avoid bumbling around with x and y. I don't think that would be needed if they do not plan on making this game worth more than world of warcraft. It has the potential to be the greatest game ever created but they are going to have to take a hard look at how blizzard handles player safety. If Disney was in Wow. That would be the most epic game ever created. Wow is becoming dated and their UI is almost unrecognizable from where they started, and that is not a good thing. Alls wow would have to do to dominate the market is to add building they might actually do so and if so no one else would be able to come close to them. Interesting times, that's why microsoft wants them so bad and are willing to pay billions for them, however they are quickly depreciating in my opinion, their questing is tedius, mesh is lumpy, avatars run like they have a sick up their a## similar to DLV, I can't stand that. Whom ever allows the freshest mesh and animation flexiblity and building will win. Wow has a beautiful world, dlv has serious potential to be more open world feeling. So many things factoring in the survial of disney right now, it's sad. Disney would not want all this drama with what is going on now, he purposely built an underground world so visitor experience would not be ruined. Someone is seriously ruining the company and that person needs to be stopped if disney wishes to sustain a future that is what disney used to be.

I think the solution is pretty simple. One mouse button is for pick up and put down and the other is for item and camera rotation. I think this is how it used to be because I don't remember having this hard a time at it before. : /

There's an option I used when I played in settings called click to move with mouse, that might revert to how it was before? I like the click to move, for a couple reasons I just can't remember, but was not click to move it did other things. That might change the placement controls slightly? Hopes they add more control settings for sure; maybe fine tune controls to allow rotating and moving objects off grid like all the furnishings are in that cave in frosted heights with the hand print with all the furnishings in walls and turned upside down. Some of the homes have little hints too, with chairs being stacked and paintings on floors tilted to lean against the walls suggest to me there are going to be more powerful placement tools coming. At least the development team has more powerful building controls we should also have access too, eventually will with mods no doubt but should be included in game without mods. If objection to not having things like windows outside is because the back side is unfinished, that's okay dev team, players are creative and will find ways to make it work. I would like floating chandeliers outside and indoor fireplaces outside. if the back is unfished allow me to rotate a rug and hide the back of objects, allow me to rescale the rugs dimensions and color it.

Alls you gota say is it was designed for indoors when complaints come in it's unfinished. Eventually we'll all live happily ever after you'll see. We need full building power. That's the only thing that would bring me back. I don't like building in the houses anymore reminds me of the movie the cube and brings on:

"Claustrophobia is the fear of confined spaces. It can be triggered by many situations or stimuli, including elevators, especially when crowded to capacity, windowless rooms, and hotel rooms with closed doors and sealed windows. Even bedrooms with a lock on the outside, small cars, and tight-necked clothing can induce a response in those with claustrophobia. It is typically classified as an anxiety disorder, which often results in panic attacks. The onset of claustrophobia has been attributed to many factors, including a reduction in the size of the amygdala, classical conditioning, or a genetic predisposition to fear small spaces."-wiki

Much more enjoy building outdoors, if they are able to make the house instances open world themes instead of rectangle cells be more incline to live there away from the characters, plus with multiplayer would be optimal place for personal space. If I want a house I want to be able to personally build it like the old sears homes. That would be way funner. The home kits. Having an instance is not going to cut it.

Premium shop could sell products similar to these, where players aquire building materials with each design they purchase and they can be mixed and matched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs-wChl_HhE

Instance living should be amazing not status quo industry standard from 30 years ago. They allow us to pick the skin of the home, allow us to pick the theme for inside. having 20 levels of redundancy is not sustainable, why do that when you can live on a private island, or a premium apartment with a live cam viewing disney fireworks nightly and parades, disney plus with friends and family. Use your imaingations.

I'm not sure why you're controls are like that. My left mouse button places and picks up, right mouse button rotates, and I can move the camera with WASD.

The 'click to move' button did fix my furniture placement issues. I'll just turn it off when I need to decorate. Thanks C.C.

I find their whole designing and placement tools antiquated. I played in games in the early 2000s that were far superior and I am quite amazed that they are using such crude tools. You can't even rotate items, centre items, stack items. Really?

I agree. I hate how I can't even turn furniture diagonally. I also hate how we can't interact with most stuff. This is why I don't bother decorating because what's the point?
