Nala Quest, did I make an unrecoverable error?

In the quest where I am to go find the statue in front of skull island, I found it and picked it up. Only to discover I was to take a photo of it first. The item is now in my inventory and I cannot take it out to take a photo. HALP!

I am guessing you went into build mode and tried to place it. Can you drop it? I don't remember that part being a big deal. Maybe try taking a picture of the location where you picked it up?

Are you on the Fishy Business friendship quest? If so, what you want to take a picture of is the glittering rift in the water to the left of the boat on Skull Rock. When you get a photo of that area in the water, take the statue and photo and show them to Nala.

As Firefly said, it's the rift.
I did just as you Lucy, I panicked and alt+f4 the game when I thought I had done same mistake, hoping it wouldn't save but it had saved.
