It shows spots to place stuff on but you can't. Instead it somehow manages to lodge the item inside of it and now the counter can't be removed at all either...

Potential fixes for this kind of issue (on devs part) would be dropping items that are on top of it and sending regular decorations back into your decoration catalogue

If you're talking about the new food stall that's part of the Easter event, I didn't have any problem placing some of my Easter baked goods on the stall. Like any counter or table, you have to drop the items on the ground/floor first, then go into furniture mode, pick them up and place them on the stall. I placed my stall outside Mickey's house in the plaza, then put two Spring Chocolates, the Spring Egg bowl and the Spring Mimosa Eggs on the top counter of the stall.

No, I'm talking about the actual thing called "food stall counter" - old thing, hamburger sign on it (or sandwhich?).
I know about the mechanic... that's not the problem. As I made clear, I can't put anything on the counter. The items/deco land somewhere in the middle of the counter/stall... thus disappearing inside of it. Once lodged inside of it, there is no way to extract the item in question or to remove the stall entirely.
It has been bugged since start, would've thought they'd fixed it by now...
