Can't Hang Out With Eric

Is anyone else having this issue? For some reason when I ask Eric to hang out he says sure, but doesn't follow then when I go check is says to ask to hang out again, I kept trying it but nothing worked, not even restarting my game.

[UPDATE] I resulted in giving Eric his daily gifts each day, along with spamming other gifts on him, giving him his order in Remy's, and having a daily discussion with him. It is day 2 and I am already at level 8.
[UPDATE 2] For the last 2 levels to get to level 10 I spammed berry salads (took 30) finally got to level 10 now all my villagers are level 10.

My Eric did the same thing.. We have to wait for the patch i think..

I had the same problem. I ended up having to gift him his favorite things and serve him food at Remy's to level him up. Took a while, but he's lvl 10 now. Still won't hang out.
