I did have to complete the starpath each time to finally acquire all the premium items. I guess the advantage of the higher tier packages is you didn't have to wait to get them and they did come with a few cosmetic items I had no interest in.
So as I note, unless they change the strategy radically, not sure it will be any different for me after it becomes a pay to collect items situation. If they start to charge for new doors to open or to interact with new characters, I will be gone. I would be just as happy if they axed the furniture and about 90% of the clothes out of the game. I am guessing those will be exciting for the MP folks to impress each other but not an MP fan.
Which means you only really need to pay more money if you want to collect all the items in the game, or if you play more casually but also want everything.
Exactly this.
If everything is mega expensive its not gonna go down well, plus the items are gonna have to be pretty damn cool to warrant wanting them in the first place
What might be overpriced to someone might be a bargain to someone else.
But I agree right now there is a wait and see aspect to it. This game does need to make money and needs to keep making money. But if your a gamer you know how the "premium shops" usually are what kill these games.
Whether you want to be a pay pig for disney, is up to you tho . :)
I agree that we knew it was going to happen, and I feel totally fine with it happening but again there is that level that we have to wait and see how bad it's going to be right now.
It's also just cosmetics you won't really need unless you really play the game on a daily basis and want to show it off later when multiplayer is added.
Making it a full price game will be worse. Not every person who wants to play it, especially since it's also a game for children, has the money to buy a 30-50$ game. Apart from this, the premium shop and star path will actually help keeping a game alive. You see what happened to animal crossing. People buy it once and then one day there will be no content anymore, because the game doesn't make a monthly income. With the pass and also the shop we can actually be happy that people will invest money into the game to keep it alive and get updates.
