Racoons and feeding

How the hell am I supposed to feed these racoons in the forest of valor, when they always run away from me?

i need to feed them for a quest from Maribel

There are several ways to do it. Mirabel tells you how to feed to them.

The crocks and the raccoons use the same animation dynamic. You need to stop when the head pops up (alert to your presence). They always do a quick pop up, head down, pop up right after you first alert them. I usually wait for the 2nd head down to progress. You only get a step or two before the head pops up again. Take is slow and you will finally get close enough and the animation changes to a plop. Then you can feed them.

The main difference between the two groups is the crocks are harder to see IMO. Really common for me to get too close before I even know they are there. Then they run a long way and you have to try to follow without losing sight of them. They seem to always run behind something to make it a little harder.

Trapping them?! LOL That is flippin brilliant. I'm going to have to try it on the crocs. I have the raccoons down but those crocs are buggers to try and feed. Usually I just stalk away telling them they can starve for all I care.

Edited to Add: Thank You!! I finally got the 3 crocodiles fed their favorite food milestone. I've only been trying since I started playing in Nov to get that. Trapping is the way to go. I got a 2fer when both crocs crossed paths. I've never hit the F key so fast in my life. :P

I can approach them but when my menu opens up to feed, it's still clear.

Feeding racoons and crocs is frustrating. I had no problems with other critters but these two. I'll try the trapping method mentioned and see if that helps next.

My best advice: look at the raccoon when they stop running. you'll notice that they sit and then stand. when they are sitting, move in closer. when they stand up, stop. keep doing this until you get close enough where the next action for approach appears. I hope this helps <3

I don't know if you've ever played "red light, green light" as a kid but it's kind of like that game. I tell myself green light when they are sitting and red light when they stand.

lol this is exactly what I feel when feeding them, I almost don't breath when they look up xD
