Rich Soil Not Craft-able

I am having trouble being able to craft rich soil for Scar's quest it shows that i have the recipe but when i am at the crafting table it dons't pop up.

you can't craft rich soil, it comes out when you harvest crops. It takes a lot of crops to get to 10 rich soil

Harvesting my 129 fields pumpkin and 294 crop sized canola fields yielded 25 rich soil actually. I therefore don't support the argument that it takes a lot of crops to get those. The pumpkin field alone yielded already 9 rich soil actually

I suppose it really depends on how lucky you get while harvesting those crops. I have one field of 48 item-slots, and a second field of 80 item-slots. I farmed both fields a third time in order to get just 10 rich soil (I actually ended with 11). So it took 384 harvested items to get my 10 pieces. That might not be a lot to you, but to others who aren't farming on a huge scale, it is a great many.

I did the quest while also doing the "harvest 100 pumpkin" achivement, it gave me 11x rich soil.

I made of field of 100 Wheat. I picked wheat because the seeds are cheap and it grows really fast. It took 280 harvests to get 10 Rich Soil.

If you have a companion with you, they pop out bonus crops, this lessens the spawn rate of the rich soil on harvesting. Once I started locking my companion away from the plots with fences, I am getting 2 to 3 every time I harvest my plot of 25 crops, as the space is not being used by the bonus crops from the gardening companion. Hope that helps!
