I digged 280 holes --> 0 Rich Soil.
I harvested 288 crops --> 13 Rich Soil.
So harvesting had a much higher chance for me ^^
It's above the clay quest in my most disliked quest. Not as bad as giving an update where you just have to wait days for the main quest though.... I love this game but sometimes...
If you need coins, the better crops will make you those coins.
Tomatoes aren't really a moneymaker. But I did it for the duty. Planting 50 and harvesting with a pal got me 200 pretty quickly. Completed the starlight duty and got about a dozen rare soil as a bonus. Then I went back to planting more profitable stuff.
But obviously the cheaper stuff like wheat grows faster if you're trying to move on the quest sooner.
