Pua is missing

I assumed for some reason that Pua (Moana's cute pig companion) just didn't appear despite we having a mission to get them. However, I saw that they are actually in the game but that just glitched for me. Did this happen to anyone else, and how did you fix it?

Have you checked the companion list? Because Pua never appeared in my game when I did the quest - had the notification and the thorns that I removed, but there was no piggy in them - but I found him as an option for companion after I had completed the quest all the same.
(which is not really a fix, I know)

Finished the quest without getting Pua. Was now back to his footprints and was able to pick the first up. afterwards nothing happened. the second footprints i didn´t found any longer, maybe i placed now something there after i finished the quest some days ago.

i did all quests with Moana/Vaiana (even no locked ones in the task-list i have only quests for Arielle and Ursula left and 2 Decoration quests in other areas) and still no Pua in the companion-list + haven´t seen him anywhere + haven´t thorns left in the area of the second footprints.
