Should they just remove crafting Dream Shards into Dreamlight?
They gave people 40 shards to start with and 25 extra with instructions not to waste them. People are in such a hurry though that they end up crafting them all away anyway, not realizing that 10 dream shards are much more rare and valuable than 250 Dreamlight (which is all you get for crafting). You can earn 250 dreamlight in a matter of minutes with Dreamlight Duties. Dreamlight is probably the most abundant resource in the game and the one you will need the least, especially when all biomes and realms are unlocked.

They say they will up the spawn rate in a patch but that will not solve the problem. People will still craft with them and still be short of them when needed for the quest. They will still come to the different forums and complain that it is the games fault.

I say just remove the quest and the ability to craft with shards. It will just continue to cause issues and it is such a bad deal anyway. At the very least delay the introduction of the mechanic until after the user has done the Curse quest.

Agree. Removing the ability to craft "dreamlight" out of Shards. It's not needed. As you say Dreamlight is crazy-abundant with all the Duties (U) that give Dreamlight as an award.

i didn't experience the problem others are having, as i did read the in-game mail that said to keep the shards, so i put them in a chest and never touched them.

On the one hand, I want to agree because I'm tired of seeing people complain about not having dream shards for the curse quest. Seriously, by the time I got to the quest myself, I was expecting to need some ridiculous amount of shards based upon the number of irate posts about the quest... only to discover I needed five. FIVE. Just... wow.

On the other hand, the game shouldn't have to cater to people who can't take two seconds to properly read. And those same people will probably still wind up complaining about other quests anyway because if they're unwilling to read one thing, they probably don't read anything else and will move on to the next step of a quest before actively completing the first.

But, yeah, locking the crafting on dreamlight until after the curse quest might be a solution. Although then they'd kind of lock themselves into being unable to create future quests that need dream shards for fear of the whole situation happening all over again.

Maybe removing that crafting recipe entirely really is the best answer... but it just feels wrong.

Unless I did not understand the mission, it is not like you get a choice to craft some dreamlight. I did play around until I used the absolute minimum shards to meet the mission criteria.

If/When it comes out of EA, hopefully they will have fixed and balanced the game appropriately. I get it is frustrating, but it was not like this was sold as a Triple A game.

That said, I actually expected it to be a lot more buggy then it is . Some minor mesh collisions in that spiral walk down cave, but have not really seen too much I would even complain about if this was Full Release.

I am still pretty early, so maybe the heartache comes in the later episodes. I guess I also bought on a lark. It all feel cosmetic to me and while it is kind of addictive, it just feels like that Disneyland game with a little more substance.

Obviously there's enough people having difficulties that the Devs have decided to act on it, but i'm not quite sure I understand it

I crafted all my shards like a lot of people did, but then I just waited to collect more shards from feeding critters...like I just waited

Everyone is in such a rush...just take yo timeeee

I'm sat on a stack of 99 Dream Shards because I just ignored quests for a couple of days to do other stuff 🤷‍♂️

I think that's the real issue, to be honest; everyone being in such a hurry to finish.

I do agree that people are rushing. That is up to them of course but this is really intended to be a game you continue playing every day for a long time and the quests and the spawn rates are meant for slower play styles.

agreed, the idea "here's a currency that can help you unlock new zones and characters faster, but hey, don't waste it because you'll stuck doing some character quests" is kinda stupid

People are being kind of silly, since to run out you need to waste like 50+. Like even if you converted 20-30 shards you wouldn't even notice. I had like 70 shards when I got to that quest.

Maybe just a warning before they start the quest, would work?

The shards were *so* plentiful at the start that I *did* waste 50 of them converting them to dreamlight.

That said, I didn't complain about running out, I just slowly farmed them as needed, and it really didn't take that long. The bonus from my mail is still just sitting in a container now, just in case.

Agreed. This game throws Dreamlight at you for completing stuff, there's really no need to craft it.

I also had that many at that time. I am down to the 50 something range now because more is needed for some of the other character quests. I have not been overly diligent feeding animals (in fact I mostly ignore it unless I have a Dreamlight Duty for it) and the drop rate from thorns does seem really low.
