i didn't experience the problem others are having, as i did read the in-game mail that said to keep the shards, so i put them in a chest and never touched them.
On the other hand, the game shouldn't have to cater to people who can't take two seconds to properly read. And those same people will probably still wind up complaining about other quests anyway because if they're unwilling to read one thing, they probably don't read anything else and will move on to the next step of a quest before actively completing the first.
But, yeah, locking the crafting on dreamlight until after the curse quest might be a solution. Although then they'd kind of lock themselves into being unable to create future quests that need dream shards for fear of the whole situation happening all over again.
Maybe removing that crafting recipe entirely really is the best answer... but it just feels wrong.
If/When it comes out of EA, hopefully they will have fixed and balanced the game appropriately. I get it is frustrating, but it was not like this was sold as a Triple A game.
That said, I actually expected it to be a lot more buggy then it is . Some minor mesh collisions in that spiral walk down cave, but have not really seen too much I would even complain about if this was Full Release.
I am still pretty early, so maybe the heartache comes in the later episodes. I guess I also bought on a lark. It all feel cosmetic to me and while it is kind of addictive, it just feels like that Disneyland game with a little more substance.
I crafted all my shards like a lot of people did, but then I just waited to collect more shards from feeding critters...like I just waited
Everyone is in such a rush...just take yo timeeee
I'm sat on a stack of 99 Dream Shards because I just ignored quests for a couple of days to do other stuff 🤷♂️
I think that's the real issue, to be honest; everyone being in such a hurry to finish.
I do agree that people are rushing. That is up to them of course but this is really intended to be a game you continue playing every day for a long time and the quests and the spawn rates are meant for slower play styles.
Maybe just a warning before they start the quest, would work?
That said, I didn't complain about running out, I just slowly farmed them as needed, and it really didn't take that long. The bonus from my mail is still just sitting in a container now, just in case.
I also had that many at that time. I am down to the 50 something range now because more is needed for some of the other character quests. I have not been overly diligent feeding animals (in fact I mostly ignore it unless I have a Dreamlight Duty for it) and the drop rate from thorns does seem really low.
