no night thorns anymore?

I have a quest from Merlin that i have to collect 10 dream shards from night thorns. But i have no thorns anymore to collect from... will they sporn again or am i now unable to complete this quest? Its essential to unlook other areas

I was stuck similarly, but you don't actually need that quest to open the next areas. Get Micky, Goofy, and Scrooge's friendship to 5 by hanging with them and doing whatever you've set them as your support and giving them gifts. It's a little bit of a grind but it probably took me an hour to get all three up to 5 and then Merlin will progress that story line, which is what you actually need to get to the next area. There are more thorns there, so you will quickly finish gathering the 10 in the next zone.

After they level up to level 2, you can pick a task that each of them will assist you with; fishing, foraging, mining, etc. So for example, since Goofy is all about fishing, I made that his task. Then you say, "let's hang out" and go fishing with him along. He'll get friendship stars with every cast you make, even if you don't get a fish. Micky, I made a forager so same thing, just choose to hang out and go forage. You'll see stars pop up over his head every time you forage.

Do you know if there is a way to change their assigned task?

Apparently, there is no way to change them once they're set. However, there are enough NPCs that it'll be easy enough to have multiple ones for each assignment.

Did you have the shards in your inventory? I think I just spoke to him again and he recognized that I had them in my inventory.

I'm currently completing "The Curse" and in need of 5 dream shards. I have been on this quest since yesterday evening and I have collected 1. I don't have any in my inventory because I converted what I had to open on of the biomes that has Mother Gothel in it. There is a spell that blocks all characters but her, Merlin and Kristoff.

I've now read the reason why I received 25 dream shards the other day. There is an issue with the drop-rate for the dream shards and night thorn refresh rates. I am stuck on this quest until there are more night thorns that return. But it's not a guarantee that I'll receive a dream shard.

I know that there are some fixes coming this week but I don't think balancing the dream shard rates is one, which is why we were gifted 25 of them. If I had read the message correctly, it talks about a balancing issue with them and to be careful when using them.

Lesson learned. Let's see how long this takes.

It is amazing how many people either ignored the actual warning message, misread it, or just clicked claim and never bothered to read it at all. That is entirely on the players.

Definitely, but all we can do is try to assist them and hope they learn :D

For those having issues, try feeding the critters their favorite food. I, and many others, have posted on similar posts what to feed them etc. I could go and look up one of my answers to copy paste, but it should be fairly easy to find too for yourself.

During the curse, all critters dissapear - so you're not able to feed them anyways.

I'm curious did your thorns re-spawn? I'm having the same issue because I didn't read carefully enough either and when I logged in today I had no thorns anywhere on any open area. Thankfully I grinded yesterday and opened one other area but I'm afraid of not having any more thorns re-spawn

I've had thorns respawn in one section of the map the next day, for me it was Forest of Valor. Not a single dream shard spawned from the thorns, though. Stuck here as well.

[Update: Someone posted a nice tip in another thread: Go to edit mode and move the teleporter to an unopened area, for example in the Glade. Then you can teleport there and get some more night thorns and critters. I got my final dream shard from a crocodile!]
