(Feedback) the star pass and how it gives out premium currency + event currency
so i already had some opinions about the monthly star pass thing, but getting all the goals finished is what made me create this thread. i'm not joining the discord so hopefully they will see the feedback here. i got the premium star pass since it's the first one and might as well see how the mechanics work.

i already thought it was a weird choice to have to unlock the "premium" star pass with premium currency (moonstones), and have some premium rewards be, well... the moonstones. completing all the rewards means you spend like, 500-600 moonstones total so it's basically just a discount for a few extra items. while it's a big discount, i think it's wasted and i'd rather just have something worth the 2500.

what i think is actually messed up though is that the final reward you get for doing ALL duties is more moonstones... that you have to unlock with EVENT CURRENCY THAT YOU CAN'T EARN ANYMORE BECAUSE YOU DID ALL THE DUTIES! so the logic here would be that you have to BUY the event currency, which costs 200 moonstones. who in their right mind would spend 200 moonstones to get 175 moonstones? that's just plain gross and unacceptable.

so, my suggestions to whoever is in charge of the star pass stuff:

1.) make me want to spend premium currency- don't goat me into working for a discount. free moonstone rewards are fine but put something worth the 2500 in the premium slots
2.) either make earning event currency endless/repeatable or make it so the reward for 100% completion is FREE

i'm giving leeway because this is the first event, but seriously work on this and don't be predatory with stuff people are willingly paying for. like, you already got them. you got their money. keep them and make more money by not putting them into corners lol.

All of the items in the star pass also show up in the store it seems. So it really is just to get them without waiting. Nothing seems exclusive.

I do agree on the rewards. I looked ahead at the final one and was like what?

Now, I understand not everything in a battlepass....excuse me star path will be to everyone's liking. (I redeemed for the xl15 model, space ranger display, incredisquarril and the first incredibles suit (low boots)) so far. Not everything is to my liking (again I know that's how passes are. Fortnite player here 😑) but still that final.....reward is a little.....um what?

I do hope they see this discussion though. And do know it's early access so I'm willing to give them some doubt as they iron things out. Honestly I'm more concerned about all the bugs I'm reading about despite my playtime. I double dipped and bought the game on switch too and had a couple crashes. Rather have them fix the game first. Otherwise no point in star path. But also note the star path needs work too.

I am excited to see how this goes. I'm loving what I have played so far.

they added that to the people who completed all the duties and bought currency, so they could make a little back, i bought and finished the pass they give you just enough to unlock everything. i honestly think you're over reacting

The last reward isn't designed as a reward though. It's designed for you to turn your event currency back into moonstones. Say you bought some event currency with moonstones, and then completed all tasks and earned all rewards. You'd have event currency left over. So you can spend it to get moonstones back. Though at a loss. 10 event currency is 200 moonstones, but you can redeem it for 175.

Should probably not be set up as a completionist reward then if it's meant to be for people who bought currency at a loss? I bought and finished the pass too, hence why this thread exists. My complaint isn't about "giving just enough to unlock everything". The problem is that the final tier is to be set up as a reward that actually isn't one, and the fact that you can still interact with it and buy currency to redeem the prize could trick people-- it's not a good UI choice at best and predatory at worst. You can have different opinions but don't use yours to dismiss mine.

Same as the above-- if it's meant to be that, I would hope they'd change the way the 'reward' looks or have a different 'redeem extra currency at a slight loss' section, otherwise it feels rather misleading.

Yeah, of course, I'm very much enjoying the game too and I've also come across significant bugs that I hope get attention first and foremost. Premium concerns definitely do deserve attention as well though and it can feel pretty bad when you've bought the early access version and then sunk into the battle-star-pixar-pass and you see some weird choices in how they're laying it out. They have plenty of time to improve and I look forward to the next patch that comes out, which should fix some of the bugs I've been experiencing too (those dang unreachable items...)

They probably should change the last "reward" to say something to the effect of "Have coins leftover? Redeem them back for moonstones!" message. That way people don't think it's actually meant as a reward.

From my run of the game you do get exactly enough points from all the tasks (though I've seen posts of people not getting enough) to buy all the rewards, so maybe that should be explained as well so people don't get FOMO-triggered.

Yeah, I think these are good ideas! Other free to play games tend to recycle currency that won't be used again after the event ends, so maybe they could also consider sending a small compensation in the mailbox depending on how much currency is left over for that person. The compensation often isn't that big, but I think that's fine, as long as people are able to get something back
