Animals approaching bug

Anyone else have the issue where animals do not approach you? I can only have animals approach me moments after I launch the game. But after...not so much.

I've had a couple of critters approach me, but not too much no.

I was wondering that perhaps the animals have a "once a day" interaction. I'm waiting until the day resets to see if I can approach them again.

You can only feed a critter once per day (and by that it truly means 24 hours based on my testing). If they run away all the time, the timer hasn't reset yet. The rabbits will dance in front of you and actually try to get you to chase them when it's their time to eat.

it's weird because at times (specifically right when I start the game), they just run up. then after 5 minutes, they avoid me like the plague

I think you misunderstood my comment. Yes, you can feed multiple animals in a day, but you can only feed the same animal once per day. Hope that clarifies it.

There is two different critters for each biome as far as I know. Means that you can feed both of them, once a day. That said, I have the issues where some of them won't let me feed them at all, even after having unlocked the biomes for days and cleared out all the thorns. (For example, the rabbits and the foxes will never let me feed them, no matter how long I chase after them which I've been trying to do for at least 5 min each with no results sadly).

The first day I fed three. Yesterday I could only feed 2.

The animals have certain ways of approaching them as well.

Squirrels & sunbirds - can approach them by just running up to them
Rabbits & foxes - run after them, they'll run away, keep chasing them and after about 3 times the approach option will appear
Raccoon & crocodile - play a game of 'red light, green light', when they stand up looking alert you need to freeze. Then when they hunker down, move a step forward. Keep doing that until you're close enough to approach them.
Sea turtles - just go up to them, they'll go into their shell, wait until they pop back out, and you can approach them

Edit: There are also supposed to be ravens in the game but they don't ever seem to appear just yet so no one knows their approach method or fav food yet

Weird question: Has anyone notice that the Other animals (besides Squirrels and Rabbits) don't show up as collected in your Collection tab under Critters?

Cause I've already fed 2 Turtles, 1 Croc, and 1 Hummingbird, but they're still grey-ed out for me.

It's random whether you unlock them. Most critters take multiple feeds before you unlock them

yes! this happened to me at first (first few days), but now I've started to collect them
