Mystical Cave Glitch

I'm having trouble completing the first part of the Mystical Cave - I was able to place the green gem with no problems and I got both the Aquamarine and Garnet for the last two statues, but it won't let me place them - they're greyed out in the inventory even though these are the correct gems. Anyone else have this problem?

Ok, so I found out what the problem was. You can't use Shiny versions of gems to complete the quest - it has to be the basic version. Kind of dumb, but hopefully this helps someone else out.

I am having the same problem. I was able to place the aquamarine and the garnet , but the third gem is grayed out and will not let me place it. It is not a shiny gem, either. What is my issue?

My only advice is that there are at least two kinds of green gems. Maybe you need a different green gem. You may have to unlock a new biome to find it. I am hoping you already figured out you can move the wells with the build feature to access areas that are blocked.

I have a regular aquamarine and cannot place it on the statue, the other two statues have their gems. What am I doing wrong? :/

There are shiny versions of gems. You probably need that variety.
