Be careful with your dream shards!

Without too many spoilers, all my characters are locked in/whole town is on lockdown and I need dream shards to finish the quest, but I have no way of getting them.
So don't use your dream shards, save them for these types of quests. Silly me forged some of mine into a crystal to try it out.
So now I can't do anything in-game other than the basic stuff of mining, fishning and such, but no characters or quests.

well... this is why i always make sure to have a nice stash of things that seem important in games like this.

I have 25 dream and 100 night shards atm.
Guess the droprate needs some balancing.

Yeah, I normally always do that too, but I clicked the wrong error and crafted all my shards into dreamlight early on. I didn't think more about it at the time, but just figured that I would get more, heh.
I have 40-50 shards now and I'm already past the "problem" quest ^_^ Been super lucky with the shards since I restarted.

I don't mind some grind in games, but if players are meant to save the dream shards there should be some indication of that within the game before people end up soft locked. Since OP has quite a lot of hours into it, I'm going out on a limb and theorize that there's hidden time gate element (which is the whole concept of animal crossing anyway). Attempts at time traveling have already been proven to incur a drop-debt apparently. It's quite possible that shard drops will ramp up after a while again once that hidden counter replenishes or if you start over to reset the pool. I think that could be feasible, given that it is an animal crossing clone and that you're only meant to play a little every day.

Yeah, I just saw in the Discord that they sent out shards. What a wonderful way to do a quick fix ^_^ So happy for everyone in trouble and I wouldn't mind the extra myself in this new gameplay, hehe.

I spend 20 hours on my first play and then restarted because of this problem. However, there are no time gates. The game is simply in EA and there is an imbalance. Gameloft has just released 25 shards to everyone (check your mailbox) to quick fix this problem and they're working on a better droprate ^_^

I've been able to feed two...
Not many show up, and if they do, they usually run away.

25 free shards is good news tho ^^

There's a letter in the mailbox with something like 40 for free,
and if you need more then you can either try to feed the creatures around town their favourite food (there's a drop chance, but it's not that great) or wait a day, and 10 new thorns will spawn in that you can try your luck with. So far that's the only ways I've found to get more. Not sure if the foraging bonus works on them.

@Cyanide, it was the same for me. I grinded 7k for the next area and luckily i got all the shards i needed. It went quite quick for me with cooking and taking pictures for the tasks.
