I'm sure this has been said, but clay is REEEEALLY hard to come by and you TWO HUNDRED for a level 7 quest for Minnie.

Mine in the appropriate spot and it isn't as rare as you think it is.
Move the Elephant bones from their place in the Sunlit Plateau and dig up the entire place and you'll have 100-150 clay in about 30 minutes if you bring a buddy specialized in digging.

I do agree that it's tedious and I sincerely hope it'll be adjusted in future patches!

I'm stuck on this quest too and I'm just waiting for a fix rather than actually doing it, because I'm pretty sure this quest stands out as way too demanding.
I also love how the quest descriptions says "you agree to craft it", and I'm like, No! No I do not agree to that

its not such a BIG thing, imho.. take a npc who´s fine with digging, get to the swamp/ plateau and start digging in a line, just hold right mouse button the whole time while diggin.. tooks a little while but its pretty okay'isch... farming iron ores is a bit more pain in the a.... than clay ^^

I'm sure it's do-able, the thing is this one quest stands out too significantly from the rest. I don't think there's any alternate reality where holding down one button for like a hundred years can be considered fun. I mean it's just a fetch quest with an arbitrary number, there's absolutely no point of requiring that large quantity of items.

What sucks even more tbh is the fact that the "reward" you get is unusable either! It's just for decoration which isnt even active

It doesn't take very long. Just find a muddy spot and hold down a button. Do a few lines of digging and you are done. Almost zero effort.

I finished the quest. It is not at all like you described. It took nearly an hour. It's a nonsense quest and the numbers need to be lower.

I saw a guy on Reddit saying clay is more frequent during rainy days on the swamp and I found around +50 during the ~15minutes of rain so here is my advice.

I noticed this as well. It just seemed like my luck was better when the ground was wet. Also, for OP, I just did it over 3 or 4 RT days. You can choose to focus solely on it and it will be obnoxious, or just work on other missions when it starts hitting a nerve. Spoiler alert, the result is kind of underwhelming. I was expecting something like a massive tower...it is not that.

Some things I learned while playing this:

NEVER sell your Hardwood / Softwood. Pick it up as you come across it.
ALWAYS keep a buddy with you. In this case (for clay) just work with your digging buddy.
The *WHOLE BIOME* gives clay. Not just the muddy Spots. You can get clay from the grass, too.

Sure, a little tedious to dig for clay, but I honestly did not think it was that big of a deal. Took me a wee hour or so to do it.
Thought the hardwood was more annoying, as you can't walk around shaking trees for more lol.

Not to hard to get if you just mass dig in glade of trust
(Had a mess of dig holes after that) The annoying part for me, is they arbitrarily set the blasted item caps to 99 despite having multiple quests that require 100x of something (or 200x in the case of our poor Mini Mouse).

Item caps being set to 99 is an ascetic choice, not a limitation to hardware. And an idiotic one when you require numbers just above the stack cap to turn in.

(edit: I took my time and finished her quest slowly over a span of several days though. Didn't feel like playing for hours, just waiting for sticks and mining nodes to respawn.)

I did it in 20 minutes just digging in the dirt by the bone graveyard in the plateau with a level 10 digging buddy. I started off in the back half of the glade but plateau was a lot faster..

Once you've completed everything else, what are you going to do all day? Might as well whip out your shovel and dig up that clay.
