hardwood issue

hardwood I've noticed is very rare to find suddenly in the game and it's not where it says it will be. I hope this is a bug that gets fixed very soon.

Hardwood is available in 5 of the biomes, but the trick is to pick up all the wood and flowers in those biomes, not just the hardwood because there is a limit to how many spawn points there are and if they are all filled with softwood, dry wood and dark wood, you run into this problem. Also make sure that if you've removed trees, you keep at least 8 to 10 in each biome to drop wood. The type of tree doesn't matter. The wood drop is dependent on the biome, not the tree type itself.

Just pick up everything and rearange the trees, this what I did and after this I got so much hardwood.

Not to mention, if you haven't fully unlocked a biome with hardwood, chances are that hardwood isn't spawning because it's in the locked area. If you don't mind a bit of cheating, go into furniture mode and move that biome's well to the other side to fast travel. Just don't forget to move the well back!

Yeah I rearranged my trees to only have 5 per the areas I'm designing. I find Dark Wood is harder due to it's only in the Forgotten Lands

You don't even have to move the trees around. Just pick up all the Softwood and rocks on the ground and Hardwood spawns so fast I got like 60 in a whole day.
