house expansion bugged?
I bought the 2 storey expansion for my house (20,000) but can't see any stairs or doors inside... I realised after that I didn't buy extra rooms, so not sure if I should have? If so, then why does it let you spend all that money for nothing???

Did you expand your house using the platform inside it? If so, the first house expansions will just make your main room bigger, and then let you build more rooms. To build another floor, you need to upgrade your house using the Scrooge sign outside.

If you used the Scrooge upgrade to make the main room bigger (but don't get the one adding rooms because those room doors remove some of your main room wall space) you should have an elevator now.

When you go in, look to your left. Is there a space to the left you can walk into? That's your elevator. Take that to the 2nd floor.

I have the same issue BUT....

I've gotten EVERY expansion from Scrooge (the sign in front of my house is now gone)
I've gotten every main floor expansion from inside the house
I've gotten the 2nd floor
I've added 1 or 2 rooms to it via the menu

I have NO way to access the 2nd floor

Use the elevator right next to the exit and click on the button for the 2nd floor.

Outside upgrades with scrooge only update the outside visually. To gain a second level you have to upgrade inside from the elevator platform.

No, I'm pretty sure the elevator gives you ROOMS but on the MAIN level.

I don't want rooms on the main level. It takes away my wall space when it makes doors.

I will test it next time I'm in the game but, people should be careful and make sure they are buying a SECOND floor expansion unless they are OK with turning walls into doorways.

Once you upgrade the main floor, you will have an option to expand and add additional floors from the elevator platform. I currently have 4 floors, but you can add way more that that.

But I do not want to upgrade the main floor.

If you go only to the "Scrooge sign" outside, it allows you to add a second floor without changing the main floor. That is from memory.

There are more than 2 floors? That's good to hear.

I love having the big roomy main room and I do not ever wish to change that (unless they can make it bigger but it's actually a great size right now.)

The second story expansion is 75,000 gold not 20k.

Thanks for all the answers, it feels as if something isn't very clear in how the expansions work - I would have concentrated on increasing the room size only if I'd have known how it worked better.

And yes, I used the Scrooge sign, not the elevator to upgrade - the sign is still there, but the house looks as if it has two storeys: Scrooge told me it did, but if it does, I can't see any stairs etc.

I'll check to see if there is a button on the elevator, although I couldn't see anything obvious last time I looked. Seems a lot of money for the house just to look like a two-storey building... wouldn't have bothered if I'd known :(

I checked since my last comment, because all the discussion had me wondering as well.

I agree that the in game descriptions could be clearer.

I also want a way to just add a second floor WITHOUT adding rooms to the main floor.

I like the main room the way it is (I have it expanded as far as it would go, without adding rooms/second floor.)

I just want the elevator to go somewhere. :robind15:

It looks like the elevator offer is to add rooms. Three sizes of rooms are offered and we can choose from three room placements, around the main level main room.

It looks like the "Scrooge sign" offers to add rooms and a second floor.

I do not really see a clearly explained way to add a second floor without also adding rooms around the main room on the main level.

If there's a way, it needs to be explained or offered as a separate option: "Add a second floor." Period. No "upgrade your house, add rooms and a second floor," or words close to that. (That's what Scrooge says, if called to the sign.)

Thanks for that, and I agree - definitely more explanations needed as to what order to expand in - I would have just added extra floor space and perhaps one room before paying 20,000 to Scrooge!!!

Devs, it would be great if you could look into this and improve how it works, please :) Thank you.
