Ant Mech Completion Won't Trigger
I've connected the 3 legs, mandibles, water hose, and fuel hose, but nothing happens? I think the foreman ant is suppose to say something when I connect everything, but that doesn't happen. Talking to him just has him saying he's given me a bunch of tasks, but all of those tasks are complete. The only ant-related task that isn't crossed off is "get help from the ants".

I had this exact issue to. I disconnected the water and fuel hose from the mech and reattached them. This triggered the foreman guys dialogue and crossed helping the ants of the to do list.

I'd try what Brian has suggested, since the connections didn't seem to snap in place for me when I originally connected them prior to the last set of legs (and maybe prior to both flows being turned on). The legs+mandibles do snap into place cleanly/clearly. I hope that helps. Maybe talk to the 'checklist' ant in the head/cockpit just in case that is relevant, though it might not be.

Just chiming in to say I had some trouble too, maybe since I connected pipes prior to turning on their flows (or at least definitely before attaching the last two outer legs).
  • I'm not sure if I didn't get it to trigger once everything was completed, but I connected them prior to their respective rooms being fully turned on, and I'm not sure if they even 'snapped' into place while doing so. I've got enough ocd tendencies that I tried to get it perfectly lined up since it wasn't "snapping" in place at the time, which may be why I didn't end up having an issue with it triggering later once I completed the final tasks; though I may just not remember it well. I think I had the most trouble with the left most one on the gaster side. I connected only the tip and did not anchor the top of the hose (I undid those webs after getting it in place), so their was a little wiggleroom from the hose flailing). I did the last two legs as my last steps, so it was already vibrating from hooking up at least one of the pipes before I completed all tasks... I think (in case that is relevant to devs reviewing it if there are more people having trouble with that). Unfortunately I don't have specifics or exact confirmation on the order without restarting to test.

    EDIT:

    1. Additional details/observation from someone for the same type of issue.
      • update2: Both the original post in the above thread, and with many repeated attempts for ZirQu's reply were solved by detaching and re-positioning the fuel/water lines connected to the Mech.

So far there does seem to be a common issue with attaching the fuel/water lines to the Mech Ant (so try disconnect and re-attaching if you think/know you've done everything), and maybe lack of any/strong "snapping" in place; or possibly unconfirmed issue with order or attaching prior to getting both liquids flowing, and needing to be re-connected; or something else not realized but that re-attaching lines seems to lead to in several cases.

Thanks for the advice! I THINK the hoses are attached, because they seem to snap into place and stop making water running sounds. I've detached and reattached them a few times now, and no luck. I have noticed that my water hose kind've loops around on itself, and doesn't move freely like all the other hoses. I'm still able to position the end onto the mech's connection point, but maybe this has something to do with it. I'll mess around with it more before restarting and report back!

FIXED! After a lot of trial and error, I was able to untangle the water hose. I needed to attach silk between parts of the hose and the moving platform above the mech ant to try to get the hose to move back through itself. The tricky part was figuring out which way the hose needed to move to correct the knot. The first time I tried looping it the wrong way, which resulted in the hose knotting itself up into a ball even more, with less of the hose moving freely afterwards. This at least told me I needed to loop it the opposite way. Once the water hose was untangled, connecting both hoses to the mech ant triggered the completion dialog!

TBH, I don't really get WHY this helped, or why the hose looping on itself was a problem. I definitely could still get the end connected to the mech ant. There was an audible "click" sound effect, the water running sound went mostly silent, and you could no longer see the water particle effects running behind the mech and down below it. I guess there must be some highly advanced hose kink physics at play here :D

So yeah... if one of your hoses is looping around on itself and causing a little ball or knot to form in the middle of the hose--leading to the whole hose not moving as freely as the others... try unlooping it? Or who knows, maybe just connecting/disconnecting the hoses over and over again will help?
