it's just something that takes time. Don't feel like you have to learn everything at once just take it gradually. I'm not gonna tell you how to play but it's better to stick to one character if you want to learn the ins and outs of the game. 80 hours between several characters isn't much experience when you're a beginner.

80 hours isn't all that much in fighting game terms.

It depends what you consider "know how to play". If you want to be celestial than I can't help you, because I'm myself 8-9 floor of rank tower. If you beginner, first of all you should decide who is your main and understand your character's playstyle and strengths, then learn their bnb combos, setups, mixups. I am Testament main so I can give you example on them. You should always play around your strengths. Testament has far reaching moves(6H, 2S, 5S), Grave Reaper and Stain State have frame advantage etc. For more info on every character you can check on https://www.dustloop.com/w/GGST

Good advice regarding focusing on a single main character to learn the game & using Dust Loop as a resource.

Romolla/DEB who's an amazing Guilty Gear player and also has great learning content made a recent overview/guide about current Testament who she's mained for a minute now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6jcAUnRlnE

Diaphone, another really good fighting game player, who makes great FG learning content too is currently a Bridget/Brisket main and has 2 guides:

First guide 1-2 months after she dropped as DLC:

Second guide with updates with respect to her balance patch changes (which look like they've made her a better/more competitive character now):

if you like testament and bridget you actually want to try axl, he kinda have the same tool but is easier to get to a decent lvl.

i started winning a lot after 80 hours, and i play fighting games since decades, the important thing is to have fun, winning come eventually if you at least have fun.
i recommend learning some safe mid screen and corner pressure, basic punishes and some keep away options for your character.

then play survival while doing those so you get them to muscle memory so you can do them when enemies are reacting, instead of panicking and messing things up which is usually what happens when you new

if you can get to ~lvl50 on survival then you more than good enough

just don't abuse of things that the AI obviously doesn't react to, like throws for example, it seems to never try to stop throws. you trying to build muscle memory and some reactions not beat survival.

a good idea is to try that with different characters as well so you get an idea of the attack ranges and what you can expect from each range, it helps on defense. or maybe even find a character that fit the way you think better.

besides that try to learn to basic 6P anti-air on reaction, you be surprised how many people just keep airdashing over and over.

Simplify your routing to a set of routes that can cover each of your other routes. Practice hitconfirms and burstsafe options and any option select you can find.
Your goal ultimately should be to narrow to amount of concious options necessary to win while catching a majority of options your opponet is capable of.
Lowering the amount of possibilities in the interaction is the main goal of most fighting games at a high level. It allows you to focus on a small set of options rather then everything at once.

Don't worry, Im 600+ hours in and still trash tier. :gbvs_belial:

I mean, the game doesn't teach you anything useful and has no features that make getting better easier so yeah, that's expected
