It's very confusing. I have not played Bridget yet, but apparently the bad ending shows them becoming a girl, and conforming to the identity that was forced on them.
Yet in the good ending they remain male and say "I will not change no matter what."?
The lack of pronouns on the official page means their gender could go either way based on the good or bad ending?
So what gives? Is Bridget trans or both and none?

Guys, Gals.......well these words won't exist anytime soon so uhh...hmmm. I gotta play into the narratives. /sigh .....They/s and Them/s, just give the ppl what they want and just move on. I pretty much already reach to where they are going to make the game as check boxy as possible so I'm expecting from Arksys in this game called Guilty Gear Strive to announce a Non-binary character, a they/them character using an existing character/s. What better way to annoy ppl than to give the people what they wanted. It'll be fine in the long term.

I've seen a lot of people saying it doesn't make sense for Bridget to be trans given her character development and motivations in earlier titles, and I just wanted to say that's completely wrong, even if it may be very counterintuitive to people who aren't transgender.

Considering that in Strive all arcade mode endings are canon, that in the Japanese text she very clearly says she's a girl as well as there being multiple conversations about hiding something about yourself or not, that the lyrics of her theme song are very clearly about transition, that we had Testament come out as nonbinary before her, that there are subtle trans puns in a couple of her voicelines. Yup, she's clearly trans.

Way back then, when Bridget first debuted, one of the main things that made her interesting was precisely how she threw a lot of people off due to being girly but actually being male. In doing that she also made a lot of people uncomfortable at first, and forced a lot of people to think and open their minds about something they'd probably never think about. She's such a recognizable character even to people who don't play fighting games, or even Japanese games, because of that.

Explain how all endings are canon. Were all of the endings in all previous games canon? How can contradicting endings both be canon?

Youre just trying to come up with a lazy excuse because you need everything to be about intersectionality 100% of the time.

Don't worry, 20 years ago people said that making her male in the text was lazy too.

Also, a retcon is when something is changed about a character's story retroactively. That's clearly not what's happening here. She definitely was raised as a girl due to her village's superstitions, and went to the world to prove her village's superstitions wrong by proving her masculinity and bringing fame and riches (good fortune) back to the village.

This didn't change, and her coming out wouldn't be nearly as insteresting and genuine without this backstory.

there is no group of people with less credibility than games journalist, that was not hyperbole, that was fact. They're on par with flat Earthers.
