Can you build multiple ships when you unlock ship computer tech later?

the title ig, hoping one of the devs might answer because i'm still in the early midgame and I can't find an answer anywhere in the codex about the point of multiple ship computers (apart from ig research speeds)

Not a dev, but I can tell you for certain that having multiple computers provides the protection of redundancy. What's ended most of my games is the computer being taken out by a meteroid. Having two or more can prevent that from being a game ender. I would think it would also allow you to build a second one and then remove the first if you want to relocate yourself.
