How to get Alien Egg Shells?

I'm just wondering, how are we supposed to get 100s of Alien Egg Shells for the production of Alien Dataoids?
I get maybe one (?) alien egg showing up on my ship every 50 days or so, so I assume there must be some other way to get them?

Eggs will spawn randomly from time to time, and can sometimes be found during shuttle expeditions (non-mining ones). You can't buy egg shells, I wanted it to be a scarce late-game resource. I'll think of adding more ways to obtain eggs.

Well, you do you, but they are needed for a lot of technologies from tier 4 or even tier 3 onwards... I'm in my 3rd solar system on day 250 and so far I got 3 eggs.

You need 28 if you want more than 16 robots, 15 for quantum dataoids which are needed for a lot of research... doesn't sound very fun to wait for so many to spawn or grind expeditions (and maybe reload untill you get an egg).

I for one would apprechiate an easier way to get them... maybe more shells per egg, or an alien trader...?

you can get them from generalist traders. I find enough of them usually from traders to fill my quota for research.

Ah, thank you, then I probably was just unlucky with the generalist traders I got so far.
