I really hope we'll be seeing something about it on the steam store page too soon!
they simply buy every mmo-related game and let them run on a sort of maintenance mode.
no new content, they just stay and wait for their final days basically.
Mulegend was the best example.
But anyway, if LG can't afford it anymore it is like it is. Nothing lives forever
Keep the good memories and move on
The KR server is also under Valofe now. If global gets shutdown, so will that. The Soulworker producer himself also said that if things were to continue the way they have been, then it was likely that they would have gone bankrupt (meaning servers would be shutdown regardless).
Only if you don't want to play. Valofe is not great, sure, but Lion Games sold the development rights to them. This means that they will not just be a publisher but that they can also develop content for the game, which is something publishers normally cannot do.
We don't know if they actually will develop content for the game, but a few of the former Soulworker developers are continuing under Valofe. So the chances of content not coming is pretty low, though it still may be slower than usual. Also, they have already confirmed that previously announced content is still planned to be released.
Valofe won't shut it down immediately but the game will stay on maintenance mode forever til they really shut it down. It might get 1-2 relaunch events and that's it.
That's how Valofe does it, like a welcome event and then nothing happens anymore and while LG doesn't work on it anymore nobody will ever release new content.
Especially since Valofe is just a scam publisher basically.
They're almost as bad as gamigo but even worse than gameforge.
They business strategy is buy as many mmo as possible for a very low price since nobody else is willing to buy them and hope that someone keeps spending money on them.
With 1 single mmo they could never maintain it but since they have like 100 different games its a different story.
Whenever you hear Valofe or gamigo its basically the end of the story.
The most korean mmo developers always do the same mistakes, the 2 only exceptions are smilegate and bluehole (but its just because of their company size, a few failed projects won't ruin them they can easily take that and do something else) while the most other companies simply don't have the budget to do something completely different.
They waste money on something they shouldn't.
Vespa was a good example, overall not a bad company but they decided to put tons of money into a K-pop band and an anime without a balanced budget.
End of the story they're bankrupt now.
This is something many companies in korea must learn, keep tracking your budget and focus on important stuff first. Don't throw out tons of money if you can't afford it which doesn't even guarantee you any success.
Development itself is tough enough, but a bad marketing can ruin everything as well
There is no news as of yet. However, several other games under Valofe have had transfers and all data was kept.
With some of the developers staying on, we'll see what happens next.
There's only two options:
1) Maybe they will finally make good content
2) The game will go into maintense mode
To me GF LG and Valofe are kinda the same swamp. There are simply no worse companies.
Making a promise is fine but if they have no budget and decent workers they can't keep it.
And due to their odd engine they lost a bunch of workers but never found new ones they could hire.
Eitherway its over, Valofe is no developer and they never made something decent for absolutely every game they owned. Simply just move on.
Remember the good times and the game was extremely fun for a while but nothing lives forever. Even WoW and FF14 will die one or another day.
Live service is a rough business for customer and developer at once, just the publisher is happy due to cash.
Never played FF14, but WoW became uninteresting after Lich King. This is because the entire core team that made the original and Burning Crusade left. And Lich King was the last addon they worked on, and even some part of it was finished by other people.
So I completely understand why WoW not the same like it was before. No one cares about Quality anymore.
I came back to SW +-3 months ago. And I honestly didn't recognise a game I used to play on JP(even before GF came out) and here 3 years ago, when LF was latest content. After playing for a while I feel like I came to WoW after Lich King. The bottom line is +- the same. The quality has fallen below the plinth.
Raids for example are completely uninteresting and made just for the fact that something needs to be released. Other than BSN and VP, I didn't like anything at all.
Let's look at CD. Completely uninteresting raid, in which the timer was set out of desperation, as there are no more ideas. When there's no one who likes your content and you also have to apologise for it, that's a problem.
That's why I don't see it as a big deal. You may not have noticed, but the game has been in an almost maintenance mode for a long time.
For some reason I have a strong feeling that nothing will change. Except that there will be more bundles, maybe they'll start introducing some season passes. From my point of view, it couldn't be worse. And anyway, it's never too late to leave
The problem is completely different. The nonsense of restricting the items for the in-game market was the biggest mistake. Every player should decide for themselves how they spend their Zennys.
In addition, the focus on pure upleveling destroyed the team spirit.
Only a few good or very good players still have the time to help beginners. That's not how you get new players. I also never understood why Primal disappeared in GC.
As far as regular events are concerned, they can be started automatically. No idea where the problem lies.
Not that we have winter all year round in SW..
There is much more to complain about. The last time there was something really nice new for me was the introduction of the Soul Mate.
I've also never seen any active advertising for SW on STEAM. Maybe we players should have always put a video broadcast in Steam.
