➜ How to trigger each quest ▢▣
This is a question that's being asked a lot right now. How to trigger specific quests? Some are easy, others are difficult to figure out.

The way I see it, the easiest way to obtain such a "triggers list" would be to get the developer to provide us with one, but the dev never gave us one before leaving.

So I propose making a repository of information right here in this forum topic. Just in case the developer comes back stating that a list can't be produced, then we're on our own to produce one anyways. Let's at least get a head start?

Anyone may post here what they know about how to trigger any quest. You can post it even if it's already been posted before (it will work to validate or challenge the previous post so it's OK). If what I have posted is wrong, you can challenge it.

⚠️ Please note that it should be possible to bypass a lot of the early quests simply by gaining experience in the world and leveling up. On the Journal screen it says that you simply need to gain 5 levels. After reaching level 5, you should be contacted by Victoria who will be ready to move forward with the Main Story.

Main Story:

EDIT: many of the quests are unlocked by completing the previous quest, which is often the case how the quests get unlocked, please consider finding a way to add it to the table; perhaps [ComplPrevQuest] -> [CPQ] tag in front of the actual action description or a separate column or samsung.

I'm having a helluva time finding eagles in the desert for Sierra's survival quest killing vultures and eagles. I think she was smoking something non-tobacco related when she came up with that one.
I even tried buying eagle feathers in the desert and the kiosk didn't have them in there.
I also still haven't found a damned mutant lion this playthrough and I've been almost all over the desert.

Survival P17 Q3 is vultures and ostriches, even though Sierra narrates: "In the desert you can often see Eagles fly in the sky." I found a mutated lion just south of the sw mine.

I've been all over the place looking for that damned thing.
Once I found it up on the hill where the road splits off to go to the shipyard.
I killed it and my damned follower picked up the head and I didn't get the journal entry for picking up the head .
I was not a happy camper when that happened and that was the only I seen that time.
Its like the mutant rabbits one playthrough before I killed 5 or 6 of them and then it's a struggle to find one.
I wish they would have made a super difficult cave with the lion at the end for these instead of random encounters.
I mean I have no evidence for it, but it might as well as be connected to the total amount of lions you have killed. If you have killed enough, the game spawns one in. I have no evidence of it, but i read somewhere (most likely at Shadowruns Guide), that the Student/graduate Zombie is spawned in, whilst the player is running. Similiar conditional triggers might be in place for the mutants.

I am playing with "No Zombie and no Natural/Loot respawn" as I wish to empty the map. If the running trigger is false for this gameplay mode, then I'll never get the Philosophy research tree done, as I've only seen like 6 Student Zombies up to Cleon. (but you need a lot more.)
Right I know what you mean when you say you haven't seen one in ages and then bam one shows up usually in a POI somewhere.
I've been killing oodles and gobs of lions so hopefully it might help.
I finally found the bastard NW of the survivor's shelter where the road loops back to the school.
Unfortunately it was a pretty p*ss poor quality with only 1 coil slot and 1 included coil built in.

Anyone know exactly how far you have to travel to trigger S13.3/S13.4? Do you have to go on foot?
I don't think those (build a Quarry Machine and build a Mining Machine quests) are locked behind distance travelled, I've travelled a lot, and still haven't got them, even though I have the similiar ones for desert, W-Grasslands and Snowfield completed. Maybe behind mining ores in the central grassland area or something like that I guess.
I'm starting to think that this quest is bugged. Currently on day 16 and level 44 and still havent gotten it. It wasn't this difficult in previous playthroughs in older versions.

I've done all the preceeding ones aside from the reach level X ones and have beaten the 3rd boss. Maybe im just OCD about this but want to try to 100% the game this time.
it's all good. i'm not sure what to say about it. i'm not actively playing NOTD right now and haven't been for some time. the quest could be bugged but you might still be able to trigger it later on.

the only thing i feel sure about right now is that devs are not going to help us complete this list. we truly are on our own for this.

if anyone has any other updates i'll continue to update them to the main list but since i'm not playing NOTD now i'll not be trying to hunt these down myself anymore.
I’ll try to figure it out in the following days. My current guesses are: obtain certain amount of stone/small stone/iron ore. Mine certain amount of rock/ore boulders. Pick up certain amount of small stones(not sure how it would trigger the Mining Machine quest.)

I was able to trigger the mine in the desert quest simply by mining a stone rock in the desert which is why im thinking there is a bug.
I did that the other day too when I mined a few rocks in the desert.
Going to see what doing the same in the western grassland kicks up.
Mining some ores gave me the quest to place refineries miners and excavators in the W.grassland. survival quest 21.1

The page for the first “buid machines” in the Survival Quest seems different alltogether from the similiar pages for the desert, w-grassland and snowland. It might as well be: “gather 1000 srone”

After beating the third BOSS, I made sausages and got a quest.
