New update kinda ruined the game :(
It has become nearly impossible to even complete a zombie horde. Some zombies are fairly easy to kill then others are ridiculously hard. Then on horde night they do not flock to your location anymore..They wander around aimlessly. Even when you are attacking them they tend to just run away from you. Instead of the steady stream of zombies on horde night they just clump up in random spots around the map. Even killing them off does nothing. It shouldn't take till hour 7 to somewhat clear out the horde. And even if you do clear out an area...more will spawn the moment you turn around. I'm not saying I don't like killing zombies but this is just too much...
Also, taking out the costumes completely IMO was not a cool move. Some people enjoyed collecting them and using them. You could have left them in the game and added the DLC ones if you really had to. The calorie thing as well. Its not all bad but you could have left some of the foods to help with health instead of making us rely on the bandages and medical herb that barely do anything.
The changes were WAY too drastic and some of them were way too much. Completely reducing resources and upping the zombie health and damage as much as you did makes us really rethink playing this game...This is one of my favorite games and we play it a lot...but today really killed it for a lot of us to the point we may not even renew our dedicated server for it.
These changes should have been set to a mode like Ultimate Nightmare or something if you wanted an option for harder game play. Not across the entire game. Not everyone likes to play hardcore type modes. We had to change our settings to easy and drop the health of the zombies to basically nothing and it is still outrageous. Please give us an option to play as we were before. Let this patch be for the more hardcore players. Because I am not quite sure my friends and I will want to continue the game if it is not working the way it is. And FIX THE ZOMBIES Please. There is no tracking on them anymore. So raising our noise radius did nothing. -end rant

the devs just addressed this in Alpha Hotfix #075
(the stupid zombie AI)

update and see if it helped.

as for the rest of your rant, leave it up. the devs are listening apparently. :)

I agree. I really don't like the costume change. Unless there are free costumes available somewhere, but now I have none so I have to go looking again. If there are no free costume pieces in the world, then shame on the developers, as that is a horrible greedy change. (hopefully that's not the case)
Oh, and why is it called "Transmogrification"?? The word means changing in form or shape or appearance. Yes, it changes appearance by changing a HAT, but it doesnt change your shape or form which is the real meaning.
It's a costume system. This new label just sounds really try hard. Just call it "Costumes", which is what it really is.

Everything is much slower, painfully slow. And we are at end-game already with all skills maxed and close to LVL 90. Attacking is like fighting underwater. It's horrible.

GUI looks washed out, yet the highlights (white and blue) are far too bright. It makes the game look like a cartoon. The highlights were a little subdued before, but a slight tweak was all that was required, not this.

Also not a fan of the red-dot critical spots appearing on zombies. Again, makes it look like a cartoon and it's completely unnecessary to this game. Doesn't add anything meaningful but detracts from the immersion massively.

I'm not sure we like the shared crate system. Yes it makes it easier, but it's very immersion breaking, and also makes having a large inventory space mean far less now. You can just dump everything into a few crates and build/repair your whole base while carrying nothing. It doesnt make any sense, and feels like a sneaky hack/cheat.

I would also have preferred if Coils were able to be attached to traps to gain elemental abilities. Coils already have that function on weapons, so it makes sense to add them to traps, and also gives far more choices in regards to how to use Coils, especially later in the game when you have so many leftover coils. Trap mods should have stayed physical (+damage, +defense, +critical), then coils add the elements. Have 1 mod slot and 1 coil slot on each trap. Even better would be Mods can only be installed on upgraded/electric traps, and Coils can only be attached after the trap is upgraded again. Would have been a far better way to add elemental effects to traps.
Mods = physical, Coils = elemental. Simple, elegant and keeps the thematic tone while massively increasing choice and endgame use of coils.

Sorry for the rant, but this game had so much potential and is one of our favorite games, and it looks like things are going in the wrong direction unfortunately.

Sorry, forgot to mention...
Mining is broken now. My +5 Depletion now takes around 10 hits to break ore. A basic pickaxe took 23 hits! That's insane. I'm almost LVL90 with all skills unlocked, yet it takes that much? Please fix.

I also don't like how TAB now takes me to a basic menu instead of my inventory. Going into inventory is so important, and now I have to hit I instead of TAB. I is not near the left hand which is used for movement, so it makes no sense to now require hitting I. This new menu is completely useless for such a main key as TAB. Who is ever going to go into this menu to build or journal or any other major action linked to keys?
I had to change my character mapping to go back to normal and get rid of this menu, but I feel bad for new players who start like this and think it's normal.

Did anyone do any QoL testing on these changes? Perhaps any beta testing with outside gamers?
Shadowrun Mar 5, 2024 @ 1:07am
ReqMan, i am afraid that WE are probably those outside beta testers. you and me and everyone else who provides feedback.

these devs do care what people think about their product so it's important that everyone uses their voice on here, while the game is still in the works.
ReqMan Mar 5, 2024 @ 1:11am
Haha yea, you're probably right.
I do hope they are listening.
As a developer myself, I keep looking at this game and wishing I had the source code. lol
Shadowrun Mar 5, 2024 @ 1:18am
i know they're listening. at least 3 bug reports were posted on here in the forum and patched within 24 hours. they're listening.

and as for the source code, be patient. i have a feeling that once the devs are done working on it they will unlock it and let the modders at it. i am only hoping here though. hoping and wishing. :)

Agree with you guys about most things. Not a fan of the update over all.
FSHerrante Mar 5, 2024 @ 5:32am
I don't understand this radical change when the mechanical basis of the game was already practically established. They just had to finish the story, polish certain aspects, add some additional mechanics and complete the settings and interiors of some buildings.

They also don't seem to have paid attention to the problems that players complained about, in fact they all still exist. This update has broken the game. Now it's a lot more grinding and frustrating than before.

My two cents - Like the NPC's,
- don't like how slow my lightsabre swing is now
- Is this still in EA? (i'll check)
- a use for rubber,/plastic more use is welcome cause i've got too mcuh
- would like to see less bottlenecking on seeds>manure, fertilizer etc that's a pretty annoying ratio

great game

Hasn't resolved the zombie AI issue at all for me. Not gonna lie this update is a huge miss for me.

Yes, I'm taking a break now, somehow the balance isn't right at the moment
Polar_Shift Mar 5, 2024 @ 11:30am
I want to know why my character is now a pixie. Eye line level with door handles. The scaling all seems wrong distances for swinging the axe and pick axe are now much shorter than before and as for the attack speed (sigh) I liked how I could tweak the difficulty, but now they might as well not be there. I tried a new start and frankly made very little difference to the effort of killing zombies. Yep stepping away now.

...They removed costumes right before selling a bunch of new, different overpriced ones? I was considering getting this today but I guess not. If devs read this stuff, that is a pretty slimy move in my opinion.

As OP said there is no reason you couldn't leave the old ones in, and also sell new ones. Reconsider your choices.

ok i finally broke and changed some keys around lol. i set TAB to be inventory again and i set that new menu to be the PAUSE / BREAK key lol. because that's been bugging me too. good for new players, not for veterans. hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

anyways i just thought i'd let you know those keys are all changeable so go ahead and move them around if you want. it at least solves one problem. XD

The character and several objects and structures in the environment already had incorrect size proportions since the previous version. It is something that was reported several times and to which they have not paid any attention.

It's ridiculous to find disproportionately sized objects or buildings with doors designed for a giant to use.
