i hate that new costume system...
now the costume is only one time use and you can only use it to the equipment because devs removed the costume slots for the charactor... i will tell you why this system is bad. you know we always replace the old equipment to new one many times for many reason(found the better one or grinding for high stat unique item because unique stat are random.)so use the costume on it is not that valuable because you will replace that equipment soon as you find better one. using the costume on the equipment that you will replace soon is kinda waste unless you already have a perfect equipment and you will never change the equipment again. and i hate that. if i use the costume to the equipment on early game i suld grind for costume again because i have to replace that equipment to better one... i want to use the costume freely and not think about grind for it again after replace the equipment...

I agree 100%

I would also add that it's horrible at end game too.
I am LVL 90, and using red desert armor set. I've used it for probably the last 40-50 game hours, and I dont see myself using any other armor for another 40-50hrs, if ever.
So now I have to lock in a costume item to my armor set FOREVER?
What if I wanted to wear the police uniform this week, but the prison outfit next week? Nope, devs now say I can't do that. I have to choose once and only once. Thanks.

This is a massive step back in player choice and really hurts the game IMO.

Unless you can un-transmog a costume item you find in the world? Is this possible?

As much as I like this game, the new transmog system is awful.

Adding a costume DLC is fine with me, I'll gladly buy one to support the game but removing costume slot, making old one consumable and it just so happens the new costume DLC are unlimited uses?

This is just blatantly done to up-sale the costume DLC. I hope they take some feedback and restore the old costume slot back.

I seriously dioubt they would roll back the entire system, if anything,, it should be tweaked to have its own slots like before but with the new system so its not tied to pieces of gear. Like you have Helm / Body / Glove / Boots / etc but its tied to the slot and not the gear piece.
ReqMan Mar 6, 2024 @ 8:41pm
Yes, a rollback would be great. Let us assign whatever costume pieces we want, whenever we want. The old costume slots worked perfectly.

They can still do costume DLC with the old system. That's why I dont understand the horrible change. There were many ways to implement paid DLC costume items (not just sets), into the old system.
Then all they needed to do was adjust Kiosk buy/sell prices, so finding and buying ingame items was available, and you could also purchase the premium costume stuff as DLC.

I agree, the new system is horrible, bring back the old costume system!

You can remove the transmog but it will not give it back. just gone forever...

What I don't like anymore is that many of the costumes only have one or two pieces, but the character has five. And I have no way to hide the extra ones. A simple example: the prisoner's uniform consists of one element and my character looks stupid in it with a bone helmet and gloves. Well, removing the applied skin back would also not be bad if the developers decided to use skins in this way.
ReqMan Mar 7, 2024 @ 5:59pm
So the latest update adds free "Transparent DLC". So you can make any armor slot transparent. That's a small consolation.
I still hate this new system.
Why do we need to attach a skin item to an individual armor piece? Do the devs not realise that in early game players are switching items every 2nd day? Or at end game, we keep the same armor for months?
Why are we forced to lock skins to armor items? It's crazy.
Even worse, if you decide to change the skin/costume, you can remove it the new costume workbench, but you lose it! It's gone forever.
So now to change costumes, you have go back to your base, not just anywhere you want. AND all costume items you find are consumables; use once and it's gone. Are we eating them now?

Sorry, but this is a horrible system
Seipherwood Mar 7, 2024 @ 6:26pm
You can't make ANY armor slot transparent, only the Ring/Cloak/Bag ... they didn't even include a helm ffs lol.

Yea this new costume system is completely stupid and in some ways a slap in the face to all the people that have been playing all this time. They basically gave us a game mechanic and let us swim or roll all around in it and then all of a sudden came back and took it away from us only to turn around and then tell us we have to buy it now if we want it. The messed up thing is they could have just left everything about the outfits as they were and then come along and added premium costumes into the game if they had wanted to make some extra cash. That way we would all still have the ones that are in game and then we could have bought the others that we liked. The costume slot was a way better way of doing costumes so i don't even no what their even thinking changing it to this new way cause this will make ppl buy them less instead of more in my opinion. I get that they might be needing more money coming in to keep development going but this was the wrong way to do it. The way the have done this it will only make ppl like me buy 0 outfits now instead of buying the ones we might have wanted.

I agree, if they left the system as it was (total freedom), and introduced some paid costume items, I would have definitely purchased some to support the devs.
This clunky new system, that makes costume items once-only and only changeable at the workbench, is a massive step backwards and not one I can support with $$.

I hate the new costume system - [erhaps the dvelopers can address this in an up_&-coming patch? GIvetheoption to putit back the way before? Or open up proper Modding Tools for a Steam Workshop where the geek experts can develop their own special costumes?
