Power Drill and Wind Turbine...
I am just getting started in using electricity. I built my first Wind Turbine and it worked for a while but now it stopped and it's sparking around a box. First, what happened? Is it the fact that I have not yet connected it to a battery? I tried to fix it with my hammer, but it just gives me an option to upgrade. To upgrade I need the power drill. I did the research needed for the power drill but cannot see it in any of the work benches. I thought it would be in the electronics work bench but I do not see it there, or in any of the work benches. What am I missing?

turbines and solar panels break down once in awhile. it's a setting that you can disable in the difficulty settings, it's usually on by default on a normal game.

when they start sparking and stop working you need to repair them. usually you just need a piece of iron in your inventory to do it and using a hammer or any other tool is fine. hovering over it with a hammer in hand should give you the repair option (R)

When I hover the turbine with the hammer I only have 2 options - Upgrade or Demolish, that Is why I am confused. The upgrade option states I need the power drill, but how is that found? I did the research but cannot find the drill in ANY of the workbenches?

you're getting way ahead of yourself. you don't need to upgrade them in order to repair them and you certainly won't need a drill to repair them. try upgrading your hammer to a wrench and make sure you have pieces of iron in your inventory.

if it doesn't work then try it with nothing in your hand. i really don't know for sure because i always play with that feature disabled. my power generators never break. if you figure out how it works let me know and i'll put the information in my guide.

and because you asked about how to get a drill here's the info i copied from my guide in the "questions and answers" section

Q.) Where do I find a wrench?
A.) To obtain a wrench though the natural progression of the game, you follow Veronica Grimes' main quest. Take the quest all the way up to the point where you kill the first boss, Victor, in the first dungeon located at the military base. After you've done that, it will unlock the bench that you need to build in order to craft a wrench.

The game doesn't want you to have a wrench right away, so you can't find or buy one in the central grassland area. Don't worry though, you won't have to wait long before getting on as long as you're following the main quest.

You also need to research ENGINEER in order to build a wrench. The book, polymer chemistry, required to do this research, is found just as you exit central grassland to enter eastern grassland. 46.73 N, 166.18 E, at the Checkpoint on a table inside the small building.

The nearest 2 kiosk that should sell wrench are right before you enter the desert, in the Eastern Grassland area, should you decide to run there and buy one instead. 46N, 170.33E and 45.08N, 170.71E

Q.) Where do I find a drill?
A.) To obtain a drill you will need a new book located here: 40.2 N, 162.26 E. After that do the research for doctor of engineering. Now you can make a drill at the Electronic Equipment Workbench. In order to unlock the workbench you need to enable it in the difficulty settings or kill David at the 3rd dungeon in the radar site.

I swear I tried the wrench last time I was in the game and it did not work as well, but I tried it again (without any pieces of iron) and the REPAIR option appeared. So I got the iron and it is back and running. Thanks for your help. I will read your info on the power drill!

thanks for letting me know. i used to play with the generators break option long ago but ever since they added the option to disable it i've had it off. drives me crazy. :D

so it sounds like the devs changed it. a hammer won't suffice to make those repairs, you need at least a wrench.

I read your info on the Power Drill. I bought the book needed at the School kiosk, and used it to get the Doctor of Engineering (I did this before reading your information as my original messaged stated), and I have used the Electronics Work Bench to create wires and some other items, but there is still NO Power Drill for me to craft. Maybe I have to defeat David to get this to appear? I know I do not need the Power Drill to repair the turbine but I am wondering why it does not show up at the Electronics work bench since I got the book and used the Reference desk to unlock the Doctor of Engineering.

yes you need to kill david to get to the workbench you need to craft a drill. that bench also crafts railgun ammo. it's called the electronic equipment workbench.

I guess I need to kill David just to get the drill? Like I stated, I have used the Electronic Work Bench to create many different electrical items, so the bench is UNLOCKED, but I guess as you stated I have to kill David just to get the Drill? Seems like a lot just to unlock a power drill. Oh well, on with the Main Quest I guess. Thanks again!

different work bench buddy. there is an electronic workbench and an electronic EQUIPMENT workbench. one is for making electronic devices, the other is for making the drill and railgun ammo

i'd apologize but i'm not the one who made it confusing :p

Yes, that is confusing - two electric work benches!

How to unlock the logic gates?
steve Jul 10, 2024 @ 9:40am
The logic gates are pretty far down the tree so it will take a bit and kill at least Francis.
I know I definitely had them after Francis and before the next objective.
Also look here in the discussions for a thread named How To Trigger Every Quest or something similar.
