Branches are insufficient
I started playing 2 weeks ago and from what I can see the branches become a very annoying problem in the game.

When I cut down a tree, it gives me much more logs than branches, this wouldn't be a problem if we could break the logs so they become branches. But from what I've seen, that's not possible. Which makes farming very boring.

And using vines to make branches is also not efficient as you make very few branches for the amount you need to make ores, bricks and other materials.

I wanted to finish building my fortress but it is very frustrating to see that you have 300 iron ores or stones and only have 50 branches. In my opinion this seems very unbalanced.

I really liked the game but it's already making me want to stop and move on to something more fun.

Note:

After many tips given here, I finally went to explore the snow part of the map. And I have to say, this is where you get the branches in large quantities. There are dry plants on the slopes of hills and there are many of them, which generates a lot of branches.

The Bush Farm is also a good option as long as it is controlled. Because it really takes a lot of animal intestines to make fertilizers.

The solution is to experiment with farming. Build a bunch of bush farms. The other idea is to go after the bushes around the trees.

I thought it was a pita that I could not turn logs into branches, but after I started farming in the x2/x4 zone I do not have a branch issue.

"the bushes around the trees" I also found inefficient, the quantity is not that good. But I'll try your other tip, craft bush farm were something I haven't done in the game yet. Thanks :cybereye:

Thanks for the map. I hadn't yet been to this area that marks the 6x crops. I had already found the 6x oil, it was very useful for getting fuel. In this 6x crops area it is actually possible to farm bushes, there are a lot of them. Thanks.

we've actually been begging the devs for a logger / chipper that can turn logs into branches pretty much since the beginning of the game. :)

That would be very good, what i should realize is that the branch practically plays the role of coal in this game. Thanks to the map that Veevslav passed, I'm able to farm the branches much better, but when you think about it, it's still bad that you have to go to a specific part of the map just to farm a resource that should be abundant throughout the map (at least in this case specific, of branch).

i agree. hopefully one day we get a trimming method for logs into branches. in the meantime i think everything the devs do is for game balancing. same reason there's a shortage of gunpowder and ammo in the game. they want to make it more difficult i guess.

I haven't had many problems with ammunition yet because it is possible to buy them but I have to admit that I use melee more than long-range weapons.

yea same here. i prefer melee except when the difficulty is high. but i still need the gunpowder for the turret ammo, you can't buy those. and people using miniguns having an even harder time, i don't use the miniguns too much at least.

There are still old problems that need solving like this.

Another one is the animal viscera, necessary for farming. Large animals should give more than small ones and that is not the case. And they are necessary to make all types of fertilizer.

There is also a problem with the seeds. Crops don't always give seeds, so they will eventually run out and you'll have to go grind more.

Just go to a forest and take every bush you find with a sword, then transform it all to brenchs, you will have more then what you need and plus a lot of papers from leaves.

Yes, I haven't tested the miniguns yet, precisely because I thought it wouldn't be worth the ammo expense and I imagine that its shots didn't penetrate the zombies. So I didn't even risk wasting resources, instead I went straight for the flamethrower since apparently the fire causes mini crowd control. Then the traps do the rest of the work. Another one I tested was the mortar turrent but I found it horrible. He rarely hits the shots and even though the shot lands close to the zombie it seems like the damage isn't applied. AoE damage is only applied when the shot hits something parts zombie. Then stop using it. I'll still test other towers to see. But there is also the energy problem, which is something I will have to test as well.

Good to know, for now I'm not having any problems with this as I've hunter a lot of animals to get leather. So I still have a lot of that but I'm starting to get into agriculture now. So maybe this problem will hit me later.

In fact, just doing this is not enough and much less efficient. But thanks to the map that was given in this discussion in the 6x crops area this is possible but it still has its problems such as distance as I already mentioned.

instead of minigun and mortar i use the MRL. it's way more effective than the other turrets. flamethrower is a really good choice for crowd control.

Where does this solve the branch problems? And level 2 traps don't solve the problem of a wooden wall catching fire, for example, as you need branches to make bricks.
