Private Co op
Sorry if this has been posted before I tried to look for a thread but didn't see anything. Is there like Private co op can I start up a server/session and just invite a friend and just the two of us play or would I have to rent a dedicated server? Thanks for any replies.

you can host a multiplayer game from your PC and invite people to join your game. you don't need a dedicated server to do this. just start your game, choose your character, select multiplayer then click CREATE SERVER button at the bottom. from there you can choose the game name, password and # of players.

you may also load back a saved game from this screen. this is how you will load back your saved game with your friend. when creating the game new, you choose NEW GAME after setting the details, or click the game you want to load then load it. you can also opt to change game setting here before loading.

once you are in the lobby, right-click your friend in steam and choose "invite to lobby". or you may wait until you are completely loaded into the game and invite them. it works either way.

if your friend wants to join without you sending an invite, have them load the game, click start, select their character and choose MULTIPLAYER. by default the PLAYER SERVERS are shown. simply look for your game name in the list, click it, enter the password and click enter.

if you invite your friend to the game then they don't need to know or enter the game's password :)

also, your game will only be running when you are there to host it. if you want the game running 24/7 so your friend can join even when you're not there, then you need a dedicated server.
