Dedicated Server Not Showing Up
Having some issues with running the dedicated server. Ran it before the big map update no issues and can run just about every other dedicated server without issue. This one does not seem to want to work?

Looking at the log file (https://pastebin.com/7qjUhssY, should anyone be willing to look over it for anything I missed) it seems to be running with a few errors from epicgames communication (so not important). It does not show up as an active server when I look for it locally or through dedicated server list it won't appear.

Figured something changed since I last ran it and deleted all files restarting from scratch with the dedicated server guide and it still doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated

No one has any ideas or suggestions? I've double checked port forwarding and firewall on router and server box. Made sure the server application specifically is permitted to communicate through firewalls as well. NAT loopback is enabled. It looks like it's booting up but it just never shows on server list or as a LAN server.

It's complaining about not being able to reach epic games but being steam that shouldn't be an issue.

Error “curl: (60) SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate” can be seen when the SSL certificate on the server is not verified or properly configured.

libcurl info message cache 21 (Closing connection 131)

Try deleting your server and reinstalling it from scratch. These errors are what are spamming. There is a problem connecting to the unreal engine API for the game here due to a certification error it looks like. Its pretty heavily spamming your logs.

This game is not heavily played so you probably wont get a lot of replies for technical data and the developers are not very active here.
Thanks for the reply. I was worried I might not be able to get much help with it being a lesser played game like you said. I have unfortunately deleted and reinstalled it a few times trying to fix it and ran it with default settings with same results. I am unsure what would be making it have an issue connecting to API. I was hoping it was similar to 7dtd where the constant epic games spam in that console was pretty much ignorable.

Seen someone having the same errors in the pinned Dedicated Server discussion back in August too while I was digging around for options. Looks like no one had replied to it either v_v.

Try lowering your UAC controls on your PC temporarily and you can try turning off your firewall temporarily to see if you are getting the same issue. None communication with the api usually means your port is not open though you say it is, this could be a software issue with your router firmware. You can also try and see what ports are open by going to a site and checking to see if they are truly open. Google search port checker to find a site to check them.
I have all the standard ports for steam based servers open for sure. I can run ark, 7dtd, conan, dark & light and most others I've tried fine.

Tried to turn off firewall on windows and still have same issue. Know of a list of ports that Epic needs for servers using their API? I guess I must be missing some whatever are specific to them.

This might be something you have to bug report to the devs through their email on their website. Be prepared to wait awhile though as they never got back to me for like a month when I did similar.

I know 7 days to die the latest alpha 21 does this sometimes when epic has its communication server acting stupid. Though if its happening constantly it sounds like an issue with a setup.

If all games are working fine but this one chances are its a bug in their networking since all these games just use the same ports for the most part. 27015 is really the only one that is important for steam to verify and 7777 or 8888.
well thanks for trying to help.

Your config file is way out of wack, you can't have this stuff......ZombieDamage : 0.622...wtf is that? That serversettings.ini is a mess, that is why it won't run. You can't just start making numbers up in the ini's........and you sure don't go adding things like 0.622. Go here,( https://pingperfect.com/index.php/knowledgebase/966/Night-of-the-Dead--Server-Configuration.html )use defaults and make it run THEN tweak them but stop trying to be a mathematician

ping perfect's ini file is out of date and doesn't even include the correct settings.

Development Update #12 - Costume, Kiosk and Food
https://steamcommunity.com/games/1377380/announcements/detail/3684555534412335389
Difficulty Balancing
- The default setting for Times per day has been changed to 3 hours.
If you prefer to play the game for 2 hours as before, please use the game difficulty change.
- As the duration of the day increases, the number of wave zombies also increases.
- 360 minutes and 420 minutes have been added to the Times per day settings.
- Some time-related options have been changed according to difficulty.
Accordingly, for dedicated servers, please check the changed settings.
Natural Objects Respawn Time (value 240, 360, 480, 600, 720, 840, 960 ; difficulty: custom)
Synthetic Objects Respawn Time (value 240, 360, 480, 600, 720, 840, 960 ; difficulty: custom)
Time per day (value 60, 120, 180, 240, 300, 360, 420 in minutes ; difficulty: custom)

edit:
furthermore, that ini doesn't even mention this setting:
NoSpawnBuildingBlocker=1 //- Activate Building Forbidden Area

I was just posting a link for him to go by, look at his settings in his ini, they're a mess. if a ini expects 3 digits thats what it expects, add 4 digits and it'll crashl and clearly in his startup log he posted his server crashes because of a faulty ini file. I didn't redownload the server files to post the default ini> almost ever game setting is either 0 or 1 to enable/disable or 0 to 100 for loot,zombie amount,strength and so on, 0 to 100 means just that, 0 to 100 not .6222
Shadowrun Sep 19, 2023 @ 5:23pm
yea i hear you. and i agree they post what values you should use for a reason. :D
i didn't look at the file cause i didn't figure i could be any help in this topic but after trying to find an up to date INI i realized it's not so easy to find so i made one and stuck it on my guide. :Upgrades:

I thought he mentioned running this with default at first maybe im wrong.
Shadowrun Sep 27, 2023 @ 12:35pm
so, in light of this topic, i emailed the devs and asked them about using floating point (decimal) numbers instead of whole numbers in the ServerSettings.ini. i asked them what happens when you do this, how does the game handle it?

here is the response i got:

Normally, if written as a decimal, it works as decimal.
And some integer settings, discard it.
i.g)
FishSpeed=12.34 -> 12.34
OneDayTime=240.5 -> 240

so it seems as though you CAN do this. what the dev has stated here is that in some cases this will work, such as with fish speed, but in some cases the game will simply round the number back to a whole number, such is the case with OneDayTime setting.

cheers!
That's odd. I never set a damage of 0.622. It's been the default server config that was downloaded when I reinstalled it. All I changed was the name of the server and and ports when I started it again.

This is the server file it installed with besides the server name change. https://pastebin.com/KrQwj7vn

looks like normal game settings to me.

except the fact that it's missing the updated settings. you can find the updated serversettings.ini way down toward the bottom of my guide. it includes the 2 new settings

[GameSettings/General]

//- Building decays after 5 days of inactivity
UsePlayerBuildingCorrode=0

[GameSettings/Detail]

//- unlocks all building modules in this game, for all players
UnlockAllBuilding=0
