EDIT:
TL:DR
Oil Pump, Mining Machine, Quarrying Machine - Will produce their resources after 2 hours of reloading/building them for the first time.
Bush and Tree Plantation - Will produce their resources after 6 hours of reloading/building them for the first time.
Farm - Will produce their resources after 14 hours of reloading/building them for the first time.
Die Steinmaschiene lohnt sich nebenher. Und die Gärten kannst du für gutes Essen anlegen musst aber in der Forschung skillen. Oder stellst einige Tierfallen auf dann haste auch genug zu beissen^^
The game will still force you to go around and explore and loot around. That's also the reason why RESOURCE RESPAWN was implemented, long before the Machines were added.
BUT WHY the heck, this feature was then implemented? When it does not help!
How are "free" resources not help?
Also, when the feature was implemented, players are just throwing away Research Materials, Piece of Iron, Cloth and Plastic as they serve no purpose after some time.
So to make use of them, that's what the Maintenance Kits are made from.
It's a means of resource sink and is actually a welcome addition.
If you believe it's not useful, then don't use it? If they buff it, good, if not, then they are merely staying true to their word and design of not making self-sustainability possible in the game.
