Night of the Dead

Maximum difficulty challenge
I wanted to challenge myself and I boosted all the zombie stats and spawn levels to max, I turned on resource respawn also. I have not been able past the first wave. It is really tough. I was only able to get up 2 proper traps. At these levels you can't make one mistake or it's over. It might be impossible to do this solo but it might be possible with a multiplayer game. The amount of zombies on the first wave are quite large. ropes seem key to making any progress for the traps etc. I am curious if anyone has tried this and what was your success level at it.

I play on Legend difficulty but they haven't really clarified the sliders, so I'm not sure if max on slider is harder then Legend or not.

From a meager test I did, max/least sliders(increase in difficulty) equates to Legend. I could be wrong tho.

I figured it maxed out at Legend but wasn't sure.
I don't see things like upping zombie health and in world spawn numbers and numbers of special zombies etc.
For reference I pretty much had a horde of very hard to kill trash zombies ... no bosses that the wave after 1am had at least 20 to 30 zombies at the same time on the very first day wave. I think custom might be able to make it even harder.

You had a boss zombie on first wave with max slider?

No bosses. But they are still tough without leveling up any weapons. They were boosted to 100% damage and 100% health and 100% waves on both regular zombies and bosses. Plus in world zombies were boosted by 100% spawni levels. The fat trash mob zombie was the closest thing to a boss. But the first wave was pretty huge.
I almost made it half way the wave i had to open and shut the door quickly to get them to go through the traps while I Was in a building. But when the big wave came at 1am or so (not even 2am) I couldn't keep up with fixing the other door. I set up inside a building. It might been more doable if I blocked up the second door.
you need a good amount of rope to make it work otherwise you can only do two traps when you probably need at least 4.

I'll try out those settings just to see if I can compare, but Legend is pretty dang tough to start. I always have the same starting strategy tho, and only use 1 trap for first wave. I'm self loathing apparently as I don't allow myself to use any "cheese" mechanics such as permanent structures or floating base techniques. So I'm a glutton for punishment and will try out the max slider to see if I can tell a difference.

easiest way survive first 4 waves of legend
1. Spawn
2. Go to preferred base area
3. Gather enough resources to make 10 Barbed Fences
4. Setup it accordingly that they are like so..

BF = Barbed Fence

Stand on the foundation. What happens is that zombies will go path the Black color, then you go to the disconnected Stair so that the zombies will path the RED color. This isn't really cheesing imo but just making use of the AI Pathing.

This can be made easy by utilizing pre-fab invul buildings for the walls or Highway railings. Similar setup can also be utilized for killing any attacking animals such as bears, stags and boars early in the game for quick Bait Trap accessibility.

This should work up until the Exploders spawn. Or unless you want to keep it, upgrade stuff to Stone. But that would really take up resources for something useful only on the initial waves as Barbed Fences won't work as much on waves after that. Moreso because you gain nothing back with destroyed buildings/traps in Legend.

I just watched a play through on Legendary on Youtube ... I can say that setting zombies to max manually are MUCH harder than Legendary based on what i saw. Bigger waves, tougher zombies, zombies hit harder. From the video I saw I think the wave was close to twice as big on the 1am day one wave. I was also playing it as hosted map rather than a solo game even though I didn't have help. I think multiplayer maps make the zombies harder as well ... or at least I heard that was the case.
But from the video I saw I think when I try it next again I might try to make a camp near the bridge using all the cars as resources.

My plan of building my base next to the bridge worked. That was the only way I could get enough resources to build traps enough to take the zombies out. The only thing that I didn't put to 100% was zombie speed. I left that at 50%. I saw play throughs on youtube at Legendary and when the wave starts you seem to get 1 or 2 zombies ... with max manual settings it was 4 to 6. Without going to the bridge I don't think it is possible to build enough to survive that first wave.

oooh, challenge accepted :-)

No bridge, no rails no buildings and only one trap. Will see if I can survive day 1.

Ok, so did max sliders accept I didn't move the animal ones. So game read as 950%. I've been playing a diff game so took a minute to get used to controls again, but it seemed pretty close to Legend but imo, a little weaker. Afterwards I made a new Legend game and started at the same point to look at the zombie count. It looked to be pretty much the same.

It's been a while since I started a new game, and I'm guessing I've improved since the last time I started a Legend game, but the max slider start was pretty easy. I actually afk'd for 4 game hours helping wife put away X-mas lights. Only had to use 3 sticks in my one trap for the wave. My first Legend start seemed pretty hard, but it may seem just as easy now that I've played for 500 hours. One thing that did seem just a touch different was speed of zombies. It did seem like they were just a hair faster, but again, it's possible they are the same and it's just been a while.

If I had a gun to my head and was told I had to survive first day with no deaths and had to pick between Max Sliders and Legend, I'd for sure pick the max sliders as over all, it was fairly easy.
