From a meager test I did, max/least sliders(increase in difficulty) equates to Legend. I could be wrong tho.

For reference I pretty much had a horde of very hard to kill trash zombies ... no bosses that the wave after 1am had at least 20 to 30 zombies at the same time on the very first day wave. I think custom might be able to make it even harder.
I almost made it half way the wave i had to open and shut the door quickly to get them to go through the traps while I Was in a building. But when the big wave came at 1am or so (not even 2am) I couldn't keep up with fixing the other door. I set up inside a building. It might been more doable if I blocked up the second door.
you need a good amount of rope to make it work otherwise you can only do two traps when you probably need at least 4.
1. Spawn
2. Go to preferred base area
3. Gather enough resources to make 10 Barbed Fences
4. Setup it accordingly that they are like so..

BF = Barbed Fence
Stand on the foundation. What happens is that zombies will go path the Black color, then you go to the disconnected Stair so that the zombies will path the RED color. This isn't really cheesing imo but just making use of the AI Pathing.
This can be made easy by utilizing pre-fab invul buildings for the walls or Highway railings. Similar setup can also be utilized for killing any attacking animals such as bears, stags and boars early in the game for quick Bait Trap accessibility.
This should work up until the Exploders spawn. Or unless you want to keep it, upgrade stuff to Stone. But that would really take up resources for something useful only on the initial waves as Barbed Fences won't work as much on waves after that. Moreso because you gain nothing back with destroyed buildings/traps in Legend.
But from the video I saw I think when I try it next again I might try to make a camp near the bridge using all the cars as resources.
No bridge, no rails no buildings and only one trap. Will see if I can survive day 1.
It's been a while since I started a new game, and I'm guessing I've improved since the last time I started a Legend game, but the max slider start was pretty easy. I actually afk'd for 4 game hours helping wife put away X-mas lights. Only had to use 3 sticks in my one trap for the wave. My first Legend start seemed pretty hard, but it may seem just as easy now that I've played for 500 hours. One thing that did seem just a touch different was speed of zombies. It did seem like they were just a hair faster, but again, it's possible they are the same and it's just been a while.
If I had a gun to my head and was told I had to survive first day with no deaths and had to pick between Max Sliders and Legend, I'd for sure pick the max sliders as over all, it was fairly easy.
