Anyways we can be creative on early game, on late hordes it's brute force or death. The only problem I see with this is that you need to make two mazes at least, as sooner or later your trap door one will stop working.
It's bound to stop, yes. But it will save you the trouble of the Door Juggling I was talking before. Also, having 3 mazes for example that is just for trash mobs would ease up the Charge Count and durability of your main maze that would be dealing with the main bulk horde, the one that contains the boss types.
Also, You can make just 2-3 Trap Doors, all of which leads to some more traps before they could get to the main maze again, only to be Trap Door'ed until such time that all charges on the Trap Doors will be used up and the Horde will use the final path left.
Spike Traps for Trash mobs, or even Shredders could really work. The biggest issue for high Waves is just the sheer quantity of the zombies on top of their beefed up HP. Being able to whittle down the number and possibly their HP would really help the base to survive.
Also, it only took me about 5mins to integrate that trap door setup onto my setup. But to think of the setup, took me about.. some time ;)
I tried this back when trap doors only had 3 charges... it was pretty terrible. The trap doors trigger speed is so slow that on legend difficulty many enemies can run past the trap door before it even triggers/opens.

You can do something about that by placing more than 1 Trap Door after the other. Probably. Lol
Yeah I did consider that... but it uses a trap machine. It had ONE job... and it can't even do it right! But there are simply better more effective uses for trap machines/copper.
It was not scalable even before those traps got nerfed. I made it to Day 11 on Legend using nothing but spike barriers. I might have had about 100 of them in my spike field. At the time the trees only dropped 1 branch so I had to chop 100+ trees every day just to repair them and replace the ones that got destroyed.
Now that the spike barriers got massively nerfed, there's no way to even use this strat anymore.
It's like.. In Normal, for example, it would be Day 45 wherein you will get overwhelmed regardless, and the Day would just go lower and lower the higher the Difficulty.. somehow making it as if you HAVE to finish the game before you reach that Day or else, you just lose.
I don't think there's an actual day where you definitely "auto-lose". Although on "normal" difficulty, lag might beat you before the zombies do. :D
It will defeat your computer. Hahahaha. You can't do much if you... uh... can't do much 'coz of lag :)
Don't repair barbed fences. Let them break and rebuild them. Get your branches from bushes/shrubs, not trees. It cost me very few additional resources to rebuild the broken fences each morning after picking up all the pieces.
Eh I chop anything and everything.... can't be too picky when you need resources. Still spike barriers are nerfed and do so little damage now that it's rather pointless on legend.
