Best Melee weapon ?

I dont want to refine too many weapons. maybe one or two, what should I pick ?

Depends on your playstyle.

People says the light saber is OP but I didn't build it (roleplaying, this fantasy weapon has not place in my apocalyptic world)

I use the katana, good crowd control and fast, bat is also very fun but I think is slightly slower but witj more staggers. I have seen people using the hammer and is very cool, very slow but it hits like a truck. Some guys love the initial knife, very fast staggering enemies forever, I suppose the kukri is similar.

the bat is actually amazing after +5 upgrade and beyond. in my first save had it upgraded to +7 and its amazing when/if you get swarmed by 2 or 3, its best out in the open for obvious reasons. the katana is really good also for many of the same reasons, the main difference is the effects caused by each weapon. again katana best out in the open.

the bat, as Lobo pointed out, seems to get a stagger effect randomly, the katana however uses a stun/attack interruption effect.

my personal go to loadout always includes; Kukri, Bat, Crossbow, MR16

Katana also has increase in Attack Speed as your increase it's upgrade level.

all melee weapon upgrades grant increased attack speed.

use the Kukri, its basically a better knife. has a bit more reach, better DPS and you can walk while attacking making it a bit easier to avoid getting smacked :)

It's basically
Lightsaber > Katana ~ Baseball Bat

The lightsaber damage tooltip is misleading; it actually does more damage than the katana and is noticeably faster. Both katana and baseball bat could easily carry you through the game, though.

Kukri and Hammer are both decent if you really like fast/slow playstyles (kukri is fast, hammer is slow)

You'll get a tremendous advantage when you use a baseball bat. A baseball bat has swing motion that can hit a zombie's head on the second hit.

I agree the lightsaber is pretty cheesy. I'm not against having it in the game, but it should be an Easter Egg drop in a unique location imo. Something players can specifically seek out or ignore if they want.

In my experience, the katana still kills a bit faster than the kukri even in apartments, but the sound it makes when hitting the walls is annoying. Could definitely understand preferring the kukri.

that is a nice idea though, find it in a Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash collectables store thats full of zeds, maybe a special or 2 to make it more rewarding lol.

Looking at what you guys said, then no weapon is best, its our choice which one we like then.

I personally like that HAMMER, it's slow but yea it hits like a truck, I used it in my normal playthru the other day and kinda liked it, but now more options.

I agree lightsaber is out of place lol. Katana is iconic to zombie apocalypse because of The Walking Dead, used by Michonne. Barb wired bat is also iconic to The Walking Dead, Negan's Lucille.

Spear or Pike or whatever the name is, is also ok, it has a bit of range despite being a melee weapon.

Damn hard to choose because there is no best hahahahah.

well thats where personal play style comes in. for me it always boils down to situational necessity, the bat is seriously helpful if you happen to get swarmed. more for just giving you some headway to get out of immediate doom.

+10 sledgehammer has some aspect of aoe when it hits.

i can kill a group of three through the walls. not that thats great.
