Questions about graphics options and spontaneous resurrection
Question 1: There don't seem to be many graphics options and the only thing that has really helped performance for me is to go down to 1366x768. Otherwise even going down to Medium doesn't help consistently. And it also seems to make no difference for the visuals. Are there no fine controls for the graphics?

Edit: 1366x768 makes it looked too blurry for me, but 1600x900 is fine and seems to significantly improve performance. Otherwise staying on 1920x1080 runs badly and going down from Ultra to Medium doesn't help at all. Only Low settings improve performance, but that looks significantly worse and removes weather effects. So just turning down the resolution a little seems to be best compromise. Hardware is GTX1660Ti, 16 GB Ram, SSD and i7-9750H by the way.

Question 2: I just had a combat encounter in Talgorn's Glen where Arvex died. But at the end of combat he seemingly just spontaneously resurrected, so that was somewhat confusing. The only thing I can think of is that I had cast Verdant Growth on him before he went down. Does the heal over time still function when a character is dead? (I'm on the second highest difficulty)

Sorry to hear about the inconvenience you're experiencing. Currently, there are no fine controls for the graphics. Your hardware should be completely fine for the game, so this might be a bug of the Unity engine (since it doesn't occur for most players). General tips to improve performance can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1374930/discussions/0/3194747223952443556/

Regarding Arvex, this is normal behavior. He is cursed by Elenuator. Until the curse is removed, he will always resurrect automatically.

Ad Arvex: Oh, I see, Thanks for clearing that up. Wasn't sure there for a moment if I may be dealing with a bug.

Just "brute-forcing" it by reducing the resolution works well enough for the moment. I did try limiting the game's FPS to 30, but while that helped with Pillars 2, no luck here. I'll try it with Vsync On, though as said, just turning down the resolution is a good trade-off so far.

Thank you very much for the update. This is very interesting information indeed, suggesting that corrupted game files can be responsible for certain major performance issues.

Just a quick update: I did start running into trouble again in a later session and the issue seems to mostly crop up during encounters that are heavier on spell effects. Anyway, I haven't run into any more issues with performance since then and I'm now running the game with the integrated GPU (at least according to what is set in Nvidia Control Panel), which seems to make no or almost no difference to performance. Still runs quite smoothly on 1600x900 and High. Just a little confused here.
