When this game was released, there were fast matches, there were a lot of people playing, it was fun

There were several times that it had more players than guilty gear strive, mortal kombat 11 and street fighter 5

Today this game is abandoned, you can't find a match if you want. I wanted to know why anime fighting games have such a short life. With a few exceptions, which I actually think is just guilty gear, the rest of games like this don't last even 2 years in online mode

Dragon Ball FighterZ doesn't even count, because if it didn't have the name dragon ball it would be just another fighting game

Blazblue is dead, Ganblue Fantasy Versus is stillborn (and no netcode rollback), Melty Blood is dead, Undernight is dead

DNF Duel just came out and people's hype is high, but I think in less than 3 months the game will be dead and abandoned too

I did enjoy the game when it came out, but I didn't like most of the mechanics. Game is too vertical for my taste and its hard to enjoy when you are a newcomer.

Also there are few streamers who stick to the game. Tournaments? Only the big ones.

KoF XV is doing better work in keeping people interested into game:
- It sponsor small tournaments. From all regions, not just the big ones.
- It has its own weekly league. It attracts pro and amateur players.
- Characters DLC. Paid and 1 Free.
- Balance updates (last one changed meta drastically).

Its a fun game to play and watch.

Anime FGs are niche by nature for several reasons like some people not liking anime aesthetics at all (some even hate it for whatever reason), many players not wanting to play something different from what they know like SF, not seeing thousands of players in there so they think it's already dead, not liki9ng the character designs (it applies a lot in this game, even though French Bread can do nothing about it), etc.

Because these and many other reasons, even though it sounds like a joke and there's memes about it, Discord is CRUCIAL for anime FGs to survive and even more considering that there's people willing to help you learn and improve in a game where you probably won't get enough matchup experience by playing randoms.

Depending on the game, you go to a server of that game and ask for matches in the respecting channel for it.

I swear we repeat this almost every thread and we have already posted that there's going to be major rehaul in the game after the next major. Like usual we can only hope it's enough because I know if the game wasn't such trash it would have just as many Blazblue active players if not more for a couple of years.

Unless it's one of the big three (SF, MK, & Tekken), the shelf life of fighting games are often incredibly short.

It was a mistake for them to release this as bare bones as it is and charge almost a premium price for it. (And why does it still have a $50 price tag?)
