Go into the menus and change it, I noticed this as well and its because the default resolution was 720p for me.

the game still just looks like 720p upscaled instead of native 1080p

That's because it is, the game renders in 1280x720 only and the fake resolution setting controls window size and not actual render resolution. It was the same in Under Night, they've made literally zero improvements, even UI is 720p

thats what i figured thats incredibly stupid its 2021 now it really shouldnt be hard to make the game at least 1080p

Well, making 1080p sprites is actually a big deal but the sprite resolution is not the problem, the problem is a) even UI is 720p b) there's no actual render resolution setting to control the resolution of the 3D backgrounds.

In Under Night you can use nvidia inspector to change the actual render resolution of the backgrounds, you can do the same in Type Lumina but for some reason it blurs the entire screen which makes it pointless.

the sprites are so low res theyre basically pixel art lol and im sure they could just make 1080p ui assets easily and if they can put in rollback im sure they can add 1080p rendering to the engine

No, he/she is implying that sprites = pixel art which is untrue. Also, TL is not "basically pixel art", it is 100% pure pixel art (sprites not 3D backgrounds) just like all previous fighting games from French Bread and most 2D fighting games in general.

if it's true pixelart, it would take AGES of development to make fullhd.

in 2000s, SNK almost went bankrupt when it did 720p targetted pixelart. and now it moved to cheap 3d.

The sprites from KOFXII and XIII are not 720p, they are 480p, like Guilty Gear XX.

I thought every 2D fighter just digitized normal art into sprites. Im guessing the pixelation is just stylistic choice in modern 2D fighters. I really doubt anyone is placing pixels one by one, so it shouldnt make a difference whether the sprites are pixelated or not.:candysilly: Anyway I dont even mind the pixelated character sprites Im just really irked by the menu, UI and the game rendering at 720p in general.

Lol, how can you be so clueless, ofc every pixel is placed by hand.
Ranix Sep 30, 2021 @ 10:52am
hey dudes

DO NOT CHANGE THE RES TO 1080P

the game WILL slow down to a crawl when Hisui & Kohaku are on screen
