Devs at risk of shutting down
I just read that the devs are at risk of shutting down due to failing sales of this game:

That would suck if it were the case (I haven't bought the game yet myself, but the Ori games are beautiful)

definitely at risk, but i think at this point, they'll be okay.
within the coming weeks, the launch reviews will be out of circulation and it'll flip back to positive.

there was even a big spike in positive reviews today, check for yourself.

Yeah just say you're potentially shutting down a game that isn't finished. That'll draw in more sales.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place i suppose. had to buy out from Private Division to take on another gamble on player reception and now has to hype up casuals.

They should ask tencent, they are pretty hands off, and so they don't have to sell out their vision.

But who'd know about their actual situation?
Reminds me of the difficulties like Larian, there were also aspects with closure and very little online.
I also remember how during the release of the game DOS2, the Internet was disconnected and many could not even download the game, yes, this is the biggest difficulty when you become a private company without investors and have to test your strength.
I can only wish them strong nerves and endurance, let them not weaken their will.

Maybe if they didnt add f2p mobile game mechanics to a 40€ game they would have more people giving them money
they could also ask larian for a bit of cash injection haha, everythign that helps. and they could've been honest from the beginning, and telling the people: hey listen, cash flow is pretty low now, please help us out, we dont need that much, help us turn things around. game is on sale now, go check it out (please dont review bomb) and support us if you believe in our game and vision... Could've backfired, but i think in todays anti AAA day and age and with ori to back it up people would've supported them way more. while also proofing that they can properly communicate

One of the biggest mistakes these guys made was, crucible available from the start. This made it easier at the begining then complete uno reverse on difficulty once max level.
Should have been unlocked at 30

Well, I hope they can finish the game and maybe at least make it as enjoyable as it was when it was released to EA.
first impression is crucial. try making the game more beginner/casual friendly so people dont quit in first 1-2 hours. Also performance and crashes needs to be fixed asap

Why should we buy this game if the studio is closing due to poor management?

It would be a real travesty if they shut this game down. I think it has the potential to be an all-time great. It's absolutely amazing.

Right now there's a huge dam waiting to burst. That dam is coop, I would be shocked if they aren't swimming in money after implementing it.

There's constantly 6~11k people playing it concurrently, sure we could assume that all of these players grabbed it on EA launch and not recently but I think that's unlikely so I personally believe Thomas is trying to get the review scores up, probably in anticipation for coop since that could come with a mixed review score as well because people completely ignore the EA sign yet melt down about bugs and imbalances.

Yes bugs and imbalances should be discussed. However, immediately submitting a negative review about it, giving the devs 0 time to react, toward an EA game is pretty awful.

First of all, I don't think he knows what the word "detrimental" means. I think he meant to use "imperative" instead. So Thomas, if you're reading this, watch out for how you use words as that phrase doesn't have the literal meaning you intended.

Second, that really sucks. I bought the game last weekend and have been enjoying it quite a lot. Didn't pay attention to reviews if I'm being honest. I knew what it was long before this update. Also left my own thumbs up here on Steam.

I can see its problems and I know this game isn't for everyone, but I just happen to be the exact type of player they're targeting. There's very little in this game's design that I'm firmly against and most of it is pretty minor. The only thing I really don't like is the crucible. I don't get why you'd design the game to be replayable with its fixed maps and raw mechanics, only to add a roguelike mode. I only went through it enough times to unlock the respec statue. Tried it again and I just can't be bothered with these tiny rooms and the bs enemy compositions.

And I'm actually really looking forward to the progression revamp I've read about this week. That kinda stuff is right up my alley. Again, I have this weird bland of tastes that makes this game just perfect for me. I'd be devastated if they were to shut down before getting to 1.0.

What do you mean by F2P Mobile Game Mechanics? I haven't played yet but this got me very worried.
