I think I read somewhere that the devs had ripost on parry but removed it for the above reason!
There's no better way to stun an enemy and get big damage in than with a parry. Using your shield to block, you still get damaged and you still get knocked onto your ass if you have low poise.
There are a LOT of skills that tie into the parry (or block system) such as reflecting or dealing damage back to the attacker, doing elemental damage, giving you stamina boosts or healing you.
There's a surprising amount of build-craft with this game that lets you do some great stuff.
Don't ignore or sleep on it. You'll be missing out otherwise.
For what it worth i just got gloves that deals 12 damage on parry.
You're not landing Parries, not getting Focus and not executing your special move(s), which makes you think the combat is missing something completely additional when it isn't, at the very least not the thing you're talking about.
Just the fact that you wrote "high risk with [b[ALMOST NO REWARD[/b] explains it all - you can't land a damned Parry to save your life.
A far more reasonable suggestion would be to ask them to increase the Parry window; perhaps the timing is too small for you (read: your reflexes are too slow) and that's why you're struggling
Jesus christ, why are you so angry. It's a suggestion on an early access game. It's completely fine to disagree. No need to act like a little child.
