- ability to walk away and leave it
- Have the community QA test and pay for it rather than it cost.
- Choice to implement player feedback into the development of the game or not.
- Have the game available to play earlier in parts.
- let the player community feel they are part of the games progression
Doesn't appeal to me but I can defo see the appeal to it.
aww, incorporating player feedback. yuck
rather have devs who stick to their own values and philosophy and not shape the game with forum/reddit tears. just like that clown in discord claiming the devs shouldn't have pvp because it breeds toxicity.
Will that be the case here? I dunno. Personally I'm optimistic so I'll be taking the plunge, they didn't buckle to the people demanding a demo after streamers got to play it and the game oozes personality in way that makes me more confident that the developers are personally invested rather than just working a 9 to 5.
I usually get burnt out on the Early Access phase and end up not playing when the game comes out, but that's on me. It happened with War Tales. Dropped 50+ hours in EA and had no urge to play full release.
Especially considering 2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for games. GTA VI alone might push this title down the priority list for many, myself included. Honestly, with so many great games on the horizon, I'm tempted to just play it now in Early Access rather than risk missing out.
They're definitely on a tightrope aiming for release in 2025. Death Stranding 2, GTA VI, Marvel's Wolverine, Monster Hunter Wilds... the list goes on, not to mention potential next-gen exclusives like a Switch 2 or PS5 Pro titles. They've got something special, but they're not the only player in the game. All the more reason to jump into early access now, I guess.
1. Take the money and run.
2. Further fund the game, because they ran out of money to continue developing the game, which is worse than 1, since that means they're fiscally incompetent.
I think you dropped your red nose somewhere
Fanboy butthurt by my comment?
Well, the second one is fair enough. Sometimes things are masked as "built it with the community" where although it also might apply, behind the scene it's a business and it's a way to gain more for development in most part or prove to investors that it's worth investing more (don't know what's the case here). Thing is, these are not some anonymous devs, playing their previous games, I am all into supporting their effort to make a great game. Although I am always cautious, but less in this case.
Not really, in the end I'll have fun playing the game while supporting the devs knowing the game will turn out amazing, so why would I be butthurt by a random comment from a random stranger who doesn't know what he's talking about?
