false cut is inconsistent? is it just me?
title. I tried to follow whatever the orange pattern is, have tried doing it quick or slow, both with constant speed, but I keep getting "incorrect" like 80% of the time. please give us visual feedback on the actual pattern to know where we're messing up?

followup: checked the discord in the bugs channel and one other person talked about this so I guess I'll just wait for a patch. would love to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing though.

Are you using a controller? My controller has a deadzone issue and it will occasionally royally screw up the false-cut among other stick-specific inputs.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'm using a controller. I never really noticed but I think the trick where you scan the deck for an ace from a while before this one also is often either too fast or too slow. idk what to do now.

I've tried moving after the orange line is done. still not consistent.

also by "deadzone issue" are you implying faulty hardware or the game simply not being sensitive enough to detect small controller movements?

because checking on https://gamepad-tester.com/ it looks pretty damn smooth to me and any small joystick movements I make gets detected instantly.

For the looking for an ace part, I recommend pushing the stick all the way so you scan the entire deck. You'll see the aces shining afterwards. Then use the D-pad so you can be more precise and not accidentally skip cards.

I already know to quickly scan the deck and get white outlines. but I didn't know you could go one by one with the d-pad directly... unless you mean I should do that mode-switching thing that swaps joystick as dpad inputs and vice versa.

still not helping me with my false cut problem though.

welp, after retrying the section I now realize I should follow all the advice written here, which is to not move at all when the orange line is still showing up even at the last split second of it disappearing, and to use the D-pad. thanks!

Faulty hardware, my specific controller has a resting position that drifts a bit up. I've tried having steam's controller configs increase the dead-zone to compensate but it's either not working or the game might be ignoring those changes. Either way, turns out it's not relevant to your particular issue but I thought I should clarify for the sake of the thread.

I've had issues with only one pattern on the false cut - the one which requires you to pass back through the middle of the analogue stick (e.g. moving from rightmost to leftmost point horizontally) At that point I always get failed by the game. All the other patterns (moving in an upward or downward crescent) work fine on my controller! Any advice would be welcome.

BUG (?) with False Cut technique.
I don't know if this was already mentioned but whenever I get the pattern going through the middle, it automatically fails me when I begin drawing the pattern.

I have played both on a Switch Pro Controller and Dualshock 4, the bug happens with both.
I am sure that the controllers aren't faulty (they work fine in other games without any problem) and it works well with other patterns.

Hey, we're trying to reproduce the issue you're reporting about the false cut.

Does this also occur if you perform the pattern slowly after the orange line disappears?

And if possible, would you be able to send footage? It's interesting that it fails at the beginning of the drawing.

ehh nahh I think it's a bit more consistent now, as I've said in discord (https://discord.com/channels/689780636084469772/940684054334947401/982573214188310558) and here:

I'm basically done with the game and might try for achievements someday... but as of now, I no longer have an issue with this. Others who are having issues with false cuts to this day are free to chime in this thread though!

so first of all, be patient. wait till the orange line disappears. then click and carefully drag your cursor across all selected blocks. that's how it works on mouse
