The player character's name

Does it bother anyone else that we can easily determine her name by checking the Actions part of the Collection menu right off the bat, when she's supposed to have forgotten her memories? Of course, you learn it after fighting Siegrid, but I find it a bit crude that this information is sitting right there at the beginning of the game. Maybe add her name to the descriptions AFTER fighting Siegrid?

What do you mean? Are you trying to tell me that the player character isn't Lily? The wiki seems pretty clear to me that Lily is the PC.

I'm talking about this really minor detail where her name is revealed first through tooltips rather than the story. And that comes in the first few minutes of playing. I'm just nitpicking, really.

Saying it's gigantic spoilers is a bit of a hyperbole thou, as you find out the truth by exploring previous areas and it's not that big a deal.

You mean the part about human experimentation, cloning the White Priestess to ease her burden and there being 8 Lily's total is not a big spoiler? It's essentially the entire plot in one sentence.

Basically, her name is irrelevant because all 8 clones are named the same way and PC is the only surviving clone out of the 8.

Not that part, I'm talking about Discovering the actual Lily's dead body. And no not all clones are named Lily, just that one and the protagonist I'm pretty confident about this. Since Umbral Knight wants you to keep the name Lily to honor her

Oh right I forgot about that exact letter (somehow). It was mentioned once so I must have forgotten it fast.

Either way, it's revealed later on. That's why I said it'd be spoiling a major plot point it if I told OP that Lily was the name of another clone who died and we just inherit it in a sense thanks to Umbral Knight. Because OP doesn't know that the PC is just another clone if he didn't find other's corpses yet.

It's all tied together so if I had to explain something, I'd have to explain more which would lead to me explaining the entire thing.

Depending on where you are in the game you could think that that Lily could have been just another white priestess, and they all look the same for some reason. Some would think they just didn't want to have more than one model for them. Or maybe Fretia just had a lot of children at once lol. This is why I thought it shouldn't be considered a big spoiler. Anyway you'll probably find out about the clones before Lily's name reveal, that's also another reason I didn't consider it a big spoiler

Haven't looked at any of the spoilers, but my point in the first place was that, whatever Lily-not-Lily is, you learn her name-but-not-really-but-kind-of through an ability description—which is, well... not even a note you find somewhere, something that's part of the world—rather than through in-world events.

This is a detail that 99% of players wouldn't care (and it's unfortunate that my inability to convey my point properly resulted in a debate with a bunch of spoilers) about because of how insignificant it is and that you can put a name to her, even if there's much more to it than just a name, after defeating the first boss in the first minutes of the game. I apologize for the misunderstanding. Creating a thread about something this minor makes me feel like a fool, now

It's alright, haha. I did actually pass my mouse over a spoiler real quick, and doing so gave me the ability to say with 201% certainty that this game is actually Hollow Knight but with humans
