1) Tell roughly how large a room is from the map screen. A room could be a short hallway that takes 10 seconds to run from one side to the other or it could be a death labyrinth that takes 30 minutes to complete and you can't tell the difference by looking at the map.
2) Annotate the exits on the map so you're not revisiting them for no reason. You can see exits to a room but you can't tell if it's an open exit you just haven't explored yet, a blocked exit that's unlocked from the other side or an exit that requires some ability that you don't have yet. You might revisit a room and spend 30 minutes carving your way through it and then, "Oh, yeah, I can't get through here yet.".
I hope that saying the game is ruined by the map is a terrible, horrible, really bad joke because this game is amazing. One of the best metroidvanias that even rivals Igarashi's.
How is the map in NDS titles any more detailed than in EL? It's the same coloured blocks with different hues for various points of interest. That's all there is to it.
unlike Lost Epic and Ender Lilies which has just a 'vague' outline of the area without letting you know where you are in that area
If you dont like it thats fine dude. However the way you come off sounds pretentious and snoody as hell rather than offering criticism. If you are meaning to offering advice in future games this is not how to do it.
