It's a difference between exported Armor then the regular Varients.
Someone even said the Russian T-72 is better then the middle eastern one's.
DS was the only real combat the Abrams saw, other then that it's just sitting in villages protecting soilders just like the T-72.
engaged T72 but used TOW during desert storm, wing man engaged T64 and somebody else in my platoon engaged T72. but we all used TOW. i have heard that the depleted uraniam armour piercing rounds could penetrate the side haul and side turret and the rear turret and haul at close range. within 200 meters? i dont remember it was a few years ago i read that. i also read more recently they are putting either a 30mm or 40mm cannon on the new bradleys. if so i'm sad i ets in 06. 16 years was long enough for me though
i spent 16 years in the army. 10 as mechanized infantry. i spent a lot of time firing the weapon systems. and yes in combat dduring desert storm. and again in iraq 2. i killed a t72 with the TOW. when i was in a bradley our rounds would not pierce t72 armour. except at close range and in the rear. thats why we carry the TOW. but our job isnt to fight tanks. thats what tanks are for. i have heard that after i igot out in 2006 they got a depleted uranium ap round that would penetrate the side and rear turret and haul but at very close range. i shot the hell out of a t72 with my 25mm while the tc was reloading the TOW launcher. both my rockets fired but were duds. went about 50 meters and hit the ground. as i was firing i watched that big ass 125mm turning my direction. i was yelling at the TC, Coleman, hurry up LT im just pissing it off!!! i watched so many rounds ricochet and suddenly it exploaded. at first i was wondering what i got lucky and hit then i realized our wingman hit it with his TOW. whew, talking about a pucker factor of 10!! i'm sweating bullets now and my stomach has the butterfly feeling just thinking about it. i miss it though. wish i could roll back the clock to when i was 18 and do it all over again. i loved the bradley and i miss it. i need one for the house
tanks don't usually expload like u see in movies. sometimes flames shoot out of every hatch and u might see guys on fire trying to get out. however, something about russian tanks is half of the time the turrets blow sky high. like a 100ft high. if the ammo gets hit thats when the turrets going flying. pretty much every russian tank fro the t55 to the t72 does that. not sure if the t80 or t90 does that. during desert storm we took out more armoured vehicles in our bradleys then the abrams did. armoured vehicles are IFV, btr, APC, that kind of equipment. but the end result is not pretty, its terrible to be honest. i we could see everything good thru our optics. man some of them dudes were mangled. thankfully u dont see that so much in games. but im very thankful the devs have not figured out how to put smell in the game. smelling humans burning mixed with the vehicles and everything else is not pleasent
