Just adding to the suspense I suppose, it is never clear who she was. Seeing as you haven't yet changed the past to make that other creature roam around yet it probably wasn't that at least.
It's never explained, only implied that she lived a happy life. But she's 24 so maybe they died or she moved out. Aside from her journal there isn't much to go on.
It's party good and partly confusing at times. I hope the sequel is going to clear some things up.
