Or the 7 notes referenced might be the fact that you have 7 different notes to choose from when making your own input.
Yes, the puzzle uses only 6 inputs
Try to divide it up into the two sequences, there's a slight pause inbetween. So 3 notes, slight pause, then the other 3 notes.
The puzzle uses the same 3 notes for both sequences. So you can ignore the other 4
The end of the first sequence and the start of the second sequence is the same note.
