My one complaint is the door puzzle
Loved the atmosphere, loved the designs of both the characters and the monsters, kinda iffy on the camera (though it's my first "tank control" horror game and it'll just take me some getting used to; I started RE with 5 and have only played REmake 2, 3, 7, and Village), and overall I'm definitely looking forward to buying this game when it releases.

My one actual complaint is the Alien/Sphinx/Wasp key puzzle. At first I thought a clue was in the journal that was right next to the door, but since you grab every journal you find I ended up reading through all of them without being able to see the clue that wasn't actually there. I don't know if the puzzle was too abstract or if I was just over thinking it to the extreme (Or if it's just the headache from the caffeine withdrawals), but I eventually had to choose between either brute forcing it or looking up a guide, and settled on the later.

Maybe if there was either a hint somewhere in the room, or if it gave you an indication that one/two of the keys were correct without telling you which ones (Doesn't move/barely moves/almost opens), I feel like it would be better.

yeah it was awfull i had to stop playing and check through internet for a solution like if i had missed a memo or something

But it's not even all that hard at all, you have a picture of a bee on the keyhole and a hexagon a the key, it clicked for me right away those things are connected.

The lantern secret switch thing is way more obscure.

oh yeah that weird lantern i didnt even know about it i think i ran past like 5 times until i apaprently was turned half a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ milimetre to the right way and saw it was interactable

I liked the key puzzle. It's not explained per se, but its logic could be reasonably deduced. It was a Silent Hill-esque puzzle in which you had to apply a bit of a surreal logic, those puzzles might not be the most fitting, but I like them.

I've missed the broken light too my first time around, but only because I forgot I read about it in a previous note. Once I re-checked that entry, it was fairly obvious.

The key puzzle was pretty good and logical, I liked it, but like someone else mentioned, the lantern part was obscure for me, but I blame that partly on modern gaming, people used to had to explore every pixel on screen in old survival horror games, items and interactable things were not shining in your face.

i had issues with the key puzzle too, I ran around everywhere looking for a journal or clue and re-read all my journals and It just didn't click, but then I actually really looked at the key and it made sense to me, I guessed the alien wrong the first time though. The lamp I just found happenstance by running around the edge of the room mashing the interact button.

I had to look up the solution. I'm a disgrace.

Problem is, games nowadays we all expect to be buggy, flawed, and just simply not fully working. I thought there was simply a bug in the game, like a missing item. Little did I know, it was something as stupid as I expected. Like its cool that it is a puzzle and not obvious. But especially since its a demo, they could have been like "bro, the puzzles in this game might actually not give any info whatsoever, but they're doable". Then I would have literally just tried and tried.

Maybe a small primer for the player wouldn't be so bad. "Between you and the game, you have all the tools you need to get Caroline through her ordeal. Good luck."

i actually like the puzzle. the hint with pentagon and police officer is enough to wrap your head around the solution. i also knew about the lamp from the reading the notes. i prefer they keep and provide more challenging puzzles

To me the problem with the lamp puzzle note hint is that it is very easy to misinterpret, which is what I did.
The gist of the note is that there was a flickering lamp somewhere (the note tells Maternity Ward, but I don't think at this point of the demo I even had an opportunity to visit said location, so I didn't really know anything about it), in turn a maintenance guy wanted to change the lamp, yet was stopped by some old man. Now, because at this point in time Maternity Ward was a mistery to me, I assumed it could have been the only lamp there, so in order to change the lamp it had to be first removed completely, plunging the whole place into darkness, at which point everyone around could have been killed by said darkness before a new lamp could have been installed, prompting the old man to interfere. This is how explained it to myself at the moment and as soon as the event was explained and rationalized, I forgot about it for good.

I honestly thought the shapes were related to the amount of sides/similar shape in the picture lol. Thought the wasp was an X because of pointy things, a circle for the alien because of the shape, and an octagon for the pharaoh because of all the sides to the image. Wound up looking up a solution too.

Pretty much exactly what happened to me.

Had bit of a problem with this one too, but worked out how the solution was supposed to work by fluking the solution and reverse engineering it in my head:

From the statue; the military man comes from the Pentagon (the US government building)
From the door; the alien comes from the stars, the pharaoh comes from the pyramid, and the wasp comes from the honeycomb (hexagon) nest.

It was a decent design for the puzzle, but the pentagon clue was not very intuitive as the primary clue because it was a somewhat obscure reference to identify. Perhaps it could be a different shape with a more intuitive clue for players to identify and start off with? I initially thought there was a hard code to find and follow like the others here thought and I think that's what threw me off the scent first.

I think the image for the star should be an actual star honestly. When I think of how stars look and how they're drawn, an X is the last thing I would ever think about.
